How was the autocross this past weekend? How bout your project cars? I'm back to wanting a solid bar for my car. Will simplify construction hopefully. Wondering if you might have some time after Christmas to do a little work with me on the car. Seeing some different things to clean up shifting, eli...

From a look at the picture, I don't think that wheel stand was expected. The rear tires aren't wrinkled and the rear tire load is light. I'm guessing the guy is off the throttle by the time the picture was taken. Those thin spoke wheels up front are not beefy by wheel stander standards. He is also a...

If the wiring is correct and the gauge is functioning. You would see a slight drop to the discharge side of the gauge when the key is switched on, another drop when parking lights are selected and so on. The gauge could be bypassed (we did that often way back when) or faulty. The Model A came with a...

The starter is your biggest draw and it is not run through the amp gauge. If the battery is fully charged then yes the gauge hardly moves. If it were a discharged/now charging battery you could see most of the amps that the alternator is rated at on the gauge. Right after starting, these gauges will...

After doing more research I've found that the Volt Guage is actually an amp guage and basically does nothing. So I guess it's working, haha. One thing to watch out for on these old Amp guages is that they have a fairly low capacity/rating. If one were to install a higher capacity alternator the amp...

You're a busy guy. I sent a PM suggesting next thursday as a day to start fabbing that bar, but we can certainly push that out. I am considering tracing out my template on the plate steel and cutting it out. Will a jigsaw with metal blade be sufficient (I think it is just under 1/8" plate). My othe...

The point is good. I know the stock fuel pump works. Will it supply enough fuel? I have $4.00 in an oil filter, grabbed 5 quarts of old school oil from my shelf (nothing uses 10w30 anymore, it's all 5wXX). I used a couple pipe plugs to desmog the intake manifold. It has some new fuel lines (but that...

With the timing advance, does it help to change spark plugs and will you start running higher octane fuel? With this car, does it need lead additive? The car is supposed to have around 9:1 compression. Premium was probably required back then. Truth is this thing will most likely be fine on regular....

Pulled the fuel pump assm last night and rigged up a couple hoses. After a pump prime, the stock pump did just fine with no leaks. I used clean fuel in a coffee can and ran it for a few minutes recycling. The fuel volume picked up after a few seconds and the clean fuel turned a "tea" color. I instal...

Might take you up on that, right now it doesn't look like I need it the stock coil is working and zapping away. Once the car is in tune I may find that I need a bigger coil. I will advance the timing as much as the car can use. The pressures should increase, but not to the point that the stock coil ...
