I'll put in a vote for the GTI. I've got a TDI Golf with the DSG and am very happy with that transmission. It does a great job of keeping the diesel in the meat of it's torque curve, and because of the very fast shifts there's no loss of boost above 2nd gear. It drives like it's electric. You might ...

45 pounds of boost will do that. Ouch. I'd be curious to see what they're running for an engine, as it appears to be pushing 24 pounds, and looks to be equipped with ludicrous speed.

Keep bleeding. It took me a couple of quarts of fluid to get the lines fully bled the last time I did my Bronco.

That's a great trans. I'm wondering if there is something unusual about yours, the C6 is a really common transmission. They were used in about every Ford truck and lots of cars from the late 60's until the mid 80's. Either way, good call on a rebuild.

You may want to do the front wheel bearings while you've got the brakes off. It's absurdly easy.

Looking good. I've always wanted to build a Super 7 kit, but I'd be really tempted by this one if I had the spare cash.

I disagree. While a bolt-in bar held in only with bolts is bad, a properly bolted bar with a backing plate that is larger than the foot pad of the bar isn't.

You're right to be concerned about the possibility of a head injury with a roll bar on the street. What about something that you just bolt in for track days? I'm not super familiar with the Miata shell, but it seems like you could tack weld a plate or some bolts on the underside of the mounting poin...

To steal from Colin Chapman, I hope they add lightness. The best thing about my '71 was it's 2000lb curb weight. It made the 120-ish hp mean something and made the car handle really well.

If it's half as fun as my '71 510 and has back seats I'd buy one.
