So, I dug up my most recient emissions report for my '06 RX-8. HC was 0.0657, limit is 1.2 CO was 4.4585, limit is 15 CO2 was 442.7727, no limit NOx was 0.1308, limit is 1.5 So, you thought HC was 5, thats clearly "high". You thought CO was around 5, which sounds like avergage. You thought CO2 was a...

Thank you both for your replies - sorry for my delay - super busy teaching and coaching. I was aware of the deal with the seller providing emissions, but after letting the seller know, he just decided to knock off another chunk of cash and he cleared himself. I needed a car, and it was a good car f...

This is pretty much why Colorado state law requires the seller to provide proof of emissions compliance (a passing emissions test report) when selling to someone who lives an emissions controlled county. That way, you don't get stuck fixing some emissions issue which usually means $$$$ and until its...

Its not really accurate to claim megasquirt must be built from scratch these days. Many places like https://www.diyautotune.com/ will sell you a fully assembled kit. The only complicated part tends to be converting the MS wiring connections to the harness you are using, if a patch kit isn't availabl...

Keith owns his own shop and specializes in Subarus. He can probably find everything you need, and tell you everything you need to know but isn't in the assembly manual.

Red FD, license plate RXSTACY, going South on 119 towards Boulder. Looked clean and well maintained. I kinda hope the 60(?) year old guy in the driver seat was the original owner

I'm not in the market for any of these, but you might want to figure out if the TMIC is S4 or S5, there are differences, and a FC coil is a FC coil - all FCs (S4, S5, Turbo, and NA) use the same stock coils (which are pretty much bullet proof unlike FD and RX-8 coils).

Good luck.

E85 isn't guaranteed to be exactly 85% ethanol (the range is somewhere between 50%-90%), which is why you either install a sensor that measures the ethanol content in your fuel lines and has the ECU adjust the fuel/timing tables, or you test the fuel at the station before you fill up, and use methan...

I'd think a standard v8 engine would more easily pass emissions. Why wouldn't it? I haven't looked at it, but I'm willing to bet it isn't running the OEM engine management control for the V8, nor has all of the associated emissions control systems. I'm not sure if the engine is newer or older than ...

I don't know about that. Section C here says that they are eligible if the model year is 32 years old, unless "if the vehicle is being registered in the program area, as defined in section 42-4-304" which has to do with emissions testing. That would mean 1982 and earlier vehicles starting this year...

No, it won't. It never will. Colorado froze the collector car model year a long time ago.

Charge light on means you have an electrical system issue, which I would investigate first since it'll likely factor into (or be the root cause of) the other issues you mention. Usually the charge light means the car has detected an issue with the alternator. Could be that the battery is dead and th...
