Re: Build thread

I finished the boost control knob with the console blank when I got home. I had to cut a chunk out of the bottom of the blank, and make an extension for the shaft. It turned out alright, looks good from the outside, but it's harder to turn now for some reason. I also need to get a new bracket for th...

Re: Build thread

Last week I was looking into the water injection issue and realized I didn't have a fuse in the wire going from the battery to water pump relay, so it most definitely was not injecting lol. I put a 20a relay in there according to the SIRHC wiring diagram, disconnected the water hose from the pump to...

Re: Build thread

Kevin helped me set the brake bias yesterday, making it much faster than me getting into and out of the car each time. We went to a fairly empty street and I kept stomping on the brakes from about 40-50mph, and I think they're pretty close to dialed in. I might even be able to add a bit more rear br...

Re: Build thread

I rewired the boost control wires and have the 8 position switch in the center console, but I'm waiting on a 3D printed blank so I can mount it. I got the new battery tender and installed that also. And it looks like water injection is working, or I have a serious leak haha. I'll definitely need to ...

Re: Build thread

We checked base timing tonight and then did some tuning, setting the speed sensor and gear ratios, and we did some boost tuning up to about 10psi. My gauge reads about 12-15psi when the ECU says 10psi, and the gauge was reading 7psi when the ECU said 4psi. I didn't think I put that weak of a spring ...

Re: Build thread

I got the interior all put back together aside from the passenger seat and putting the stereo in. I took the car out Saturday morning and Joe was tuning, but I had an air pocket in the coolant system so we didn't get much tuning done before I had to bring the car back home and bleed it yet again. Th...

Re: Build thread

Joe cleared up the map a bit the other night so it's idling really well now, and finally at 13.5 AFR instead of 12 or richer like it used to. It's almost all back together. All the body pieces are back on and it's ready to put on the ground, I just need to finish the interior. I'm trying to fix some...

Re: Build thread

I changed the A13 ECU power wire from the B/Y to the B/W wire on the ignition switch, and swapped the two wires back to where they were, with the ignition switch powering the ECU and the EGI relay wire powering the water injection again, and it worked! Car starts, and turns off too. However, the idl...

Re: Build thread

I installed the AEM pressure sensors and rewired the harness. I discovered the newer fuel pressure subharness I made was also wired incorrectly, with the power and ground wires swapped. I tried starting the car with no luck still. Joe noticed the ECU was shutting off during cranking. Apparently I ta...

Re: Build thread

I ran the permanent wiring for the fuel pump relay in the rear and put a switch on the wiring so I can provide power to the pump for priming the system. I added five gallons of fresh fuel to the tank. I still wasn't getting power to the CAN devices, turns out the fuse in the relay box was blown. I t...

Re: Build thread

My last relay box rewire failed lol. Joe told me what I needed to do and it seems to be working. The ECU only comes on when turning the key to on, but I haven't checked CAN yet to see if those devices are being powered. And my fuel wiring in the stock harness must be messed up because the pump still...

Re: Build thread

I got a map from Joe on Sunday and installed it on the ECU, I connected the large connector on the combo switch, and I turned the key forward. Boy howdy, do I have some issues lol. The left blinker and wipers were going crazy, but that was because I had only the large connector connected, so once I ...

Re: Build thread

I finished bleeding the brakes today, which was a chore. I had an issue with not being able to bleed the rear brakes and the pedal was stiff not even halfway down. I believe it was due to not topping off the master cylinder and running out of fluid when I was bleeding the clutch, possibly in conjunc...

Re: Build thread

I've gotten the engine harness finished and installed, I got the HVAC boxes all installed (it was kinda tough getting the blower box installed over the ECU for some reason), I repaired any of the interior plastics that needed it and got all the hatch plastics installed (although I forgot the panel f...

Re: Build thread

I think the brake line is good to go now. It hasn't leaked or seeped any the last two days. I ended up buying another tool from Amazon that had great reviews, but ultimately didn't help. I bought another coil of line just in case too. I also tried using the old style flare tool, which was awful. I f...
