Starting Line performance driving school and AutoX

Hi Folks, For those who don't know, I'm the Chair for the Solo program of the SCCA's Colorado Region, a member of the RMSolo organization. I usually don't cross promote here, but I think folks here might be interested in this, so here goes. On Saturday August 16th, RMSolo is hosting a SCCA Starting ...

Absolutely nothing but air! I don't know why they didn't just manufacturer the larger tank for all the cars. Just one part instead of 2. Just don't cut out the sections for the headlight sprayers. I don't feel like researching the part numbers right now to definitively find out, but I'm guessing th...

I have heard from someone else building one of these that it will overheat at idle. I can't personally confirm this, but I thought you might be interested to know this.

It looks like the kit is really coming together. I'm starting to think it looks perfectly fine without the body panels :)

Yeah, I've been trying to get a TR one for a while now. I rented one from a guy on RX-7 club a while ago and I liked it. I don't have the link handy, but there is a company that makes one, but its kinda pricy for what you get (like $600 if I recall correctly). You basically hook up the sensor to a l...

Because I'm not sure my seals are all working as they should be, so I'd like to correlate the number of pulses to the rotation of the e-shaft.

Its a wee bit hard to watch the e-shaft pulley, a piston tester display, and crank the engine without any assistants :)

Rotary Compression Tester?

I figure its a long shot, but does anyone have a rotary compression tester? The RX-8 is making angry noises, and I'm trying to narrow down the issue.

Since I've seen it so many times before, unless some big name auto manufacturer like Ford backs that new engine design, it'll be dead within a year. The auto industry is extremely conservative and has a massive case of NIHS (not invented here syndrome). Hopefully it'll thrive, but I'm extremely skep...

From my understanding if you have a mailing address in another county where you "reside" in you can use that. You don't need to prove you live there. So if you have family or friends that live in a non emissions county then you can ask to use their address. Technically (although I haven't heard of ...

Nice! Thanks for looking into it. I'm assuming this is their site? http://autohausboulder.com/ Is Mark a tech there? Would I just ask for him directly? So are you saying he only works on that one FD, but he won't work on other rotaries too? Mark co-owns autohaus. As far as engine work goes, he was ...

Cool, thanks! Looks like a competitive crowd. Can't make this Sat, but I'll try to make the next one. How strict is tech inspection? Remove anything loose, make sure the battery is strapped down, your wheel bearings are not shot, your pedals return when pressed/released, and you have all of your lu...

Ok did the research. Mark Mauro Jr of Autohaus of Boulder works/races rotaries. He is the co-driver of the jetplane FD. They/he might be another good source. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/darren-kidd-rx7-2-ernie-echols.html He used to own that car, then sold it to Darren after winning a nation...

Sorry, I already have plans for that day. However, having just done shocks on the RX-8, I recommend you have an impact wrench to tighten down those coil compressors. Its probably not the safest thing to do, but it'll really speed up the process (5 minutes to zip em down instead of an hour and a half...
