Speed 6 build

Postby Army RX8 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 9:14

A friend of mine asked me to help him build his Speed 6 up. He wants to start with the basics CAI and Exhaust combo. Anybody found a good combo to reccomend? I found a catback and down pipe combo at Corksport, anybody know if this is a good setup?

AVOID corksport!!!

I would go w/ a SRI, TIP, rear motor mount to start

from there, upgraded intercooler, test pipe, BOV (BPV really) and call it good at that lol

How far does he want to mod? and btw, a catback results in almost no power gain.

He's looking to do mild mods. Its his daily driver so he's not going full bore, just base stuff

Yea tbot said it right. Exhaust yields no gains, and the large diameter of those aftermarket exhausts has been known to rub the bumper and melt the plastic exhaust surrounds on the ms6. But I have to say, I like the sound of the corksport catback the best ($700). I don't know anything about the corksport turboback exhaust that you mentioned though.

I also say go with a short ram CAI. They are easy to work on, perform just as good if not better than a long CAI, and they fill up the void where the stock intake used to sit so its nice to look at when the hood is open. I like the CP-e nano intake.

+1 with tbot.
SRI, BPV, Rear motor mount, turbo inlet, testpipe, catback...
I say catback because I absolutley hate stock exhaust systems, this is no exception!
My 6 with a manifold and downpipe w/ stock catback still sounded terrible. Its all in what you like tho! Its really not worth the price for maybe 4-6hp but the better sound makes up for it!
