So last Wed. I stopped by Mcdonald Mazda and told them I was interested in getting the VVT recall taken care of because there's a bit of a clicking sound in my engine and there is slack in the timing chain, I made an appt for today.

I show up today and they are like: 'well we can't do the VVT replacement unless it breaks first' and they checked the engine and said it was fine. Wish they would have told me that/checked it when i was there the other week, Instead i wasted my time and my friend's time who drove up with me...

So now I guess i have to wait for it to break, and it'll be past it's 70k warranty marker by then.

That's bs...typical backwards thinking. I swear, what's the point of having a warranty and/or recall if they do shat like this?
one and one makes two, together we are free

Yea, lets blow up the engine first then we'll replace the VVT and you'll have to pay for the rest of the engine.

If you're hearing the clicking, they should have fixed it for you. I would try another dealership.

i agree wtf! i guess a 'ticking sound' is subjective.. but i think all MS3's sound like this as far as i can tell, so maybe its fine...

Take it to a different dealership and explain that you would like to have them look at it and see what they think. Let them know you are looking to have a good relationship with a dealer to have service done and to buy your cars from.

Do not let it get out of warranty!

If you continue to have difficulties with dealers not wanting to take care of it, I suggest calling Mazda USA directly, and discuss it with them. They might be able to "light a fire", as it were...
