I don't even remember anymore, but something like 9 i think? but that's because:
1. I didn't do a white basecoat like i should have (monster green is a little transparent so it takes way more to cover a dark car)
2. Now they dipyourcar.com sells 'RDS' dip which has a lot more pigment and better coverage...

Andyscums wrote:I ordered my "pro kit" from them about a week ago. Mine only comes with 4 gallons as well so it's good that I know to order more now. Luckily it's on back order (story of my life) because apparently matte white is the most popular color..... Who knew? But I am doing snow camo once everything gets here. Good thing about it is if you don't like it, peel it off.

What color is your car currently? I think you'll be safe with 2 more gallons, but the more the safer/better so you don't have to remask 4-5 times like me...
While I had a temporary white-dipped fender on my car, i found it's pretty hard to keep the white clean, keep that in mind, hopefully you have a garage to park in... Some people adding spray-wax over the final product will help keep grime from bonding to the white dip...

Long story...it wasn't my fault, but it is still a PIA. Wonder if this is a sign that its time to go all in and have them powdercoated white metallic pearl.

What happened? Let's fix it! won't take long...

Everyone is saying 3 gallons is enough and everyone is saying between 6 and 8 haha. How far were you spraying though?

At about 6-8 inches, mine was cosmic blue too.
I think you'll be fine with 4 gallons but maybe get one extra just in case, and for touch ups... One really good thing is that if you do run out, you can always run to the store and pick up some white dip cans.

Oh and I'd recommend removing the spoiler and dipping that separately, it's very hard to spray underneath it... (Spoiler is pretty easy to remove)

I never have worked with plastidip, do I need to tape off windows or anything? I know and have seen how it just peels but I am concerned about it not breaking around the window trim and sucks

As far as the spoiler goes, I was going to take off that and my front bumper anyways. The front bumper because I have a fmic and don't want to spray through the honeycomb type grill all over it. Thanks for the pointers though

yeah definitely mask off all windows, i mask all the way to the bottom of the rubber-window-trim, some spots you may need to cut with a blade just a bit,
One trick to make sure the dip doesn't stick to the top of the doors where the window meets the car, is after you coat one side, open the two doors just a crack so it can dry separated if that makes sense..

I masked off the honeycomb gril, + taped off the inside of the air suction vents, you'll want to remove your emblems before dipping too,

Clean the car really well and be sure to give it a full 24-hours to dry, or else there may be a little water in seams/channels that will bubble up and ruin the dip once it's on,

let me know when you are about to go for it, if i'm free i can show you where to mask and all that.

Definitely makes sense. I bought the profit so it comes with a secondary cleaning solution for the car before spraying. But I clean my car every Friday after work so waiting 24 hours isn't hard because we plan on doing it next Saturday.

As far as help masking and such, I would appreciate all the help I can get.
