I don't know of any Mazdas that are fast like an Evo or STi and at the same time won't look out of place next to a C Class or a 5 series BMW or even a XLR. If you ask me, there's no 'prestige' in owning a Mazda. Every car has its place in line and you're trying to squeeze OJ from an apple. The Evo and STi aren't meant to please someone looking for a 'certain level of luxury'. These are meant as driving machines, street driven race cars basically. Although it seems Mitsu is pandering to those types of tastes when comparing the IX to the X.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Evo X, there's too many damn acronyms for me. I get the feeling there's too many driver's aides in the car, too many electromechanical systems that give a false sense of confidence to mediocre drivers. The whole 'spirit' of the Evo seems to be going backwards, less of a pure drivers car.
But then again, I felt the same way about the MS3 when I first started reading about it. Being a SRT-4 owner, I made some pretty shitty comments about boost cut, torque control, dynamic stability control, TCS blah blah blah. I thought all that stuff shouldn't be a part of a performance car. Let the driver drive the car, instead of the car driving the car. I still feel that way in a way, but here I am, MS3 in my garage, and couldn't be happier with it.

Check Youtube for RX7's and 8's. Some 8's on there are hitting mid 13's. 7's are doing 7-8-9 s. MikeB145 on the forums is runnning faster than any evo I've seen.
These cars are cheap. My buddy got his running 12.7's. I believe he's running 23 lbs. Motor is built. He's doing a bigger turbo and says hes going to be pushing +30Lbs. on race gas. That's Crazy. I've never heard of a gas motor holding that much boost, Only Diesel motors.
