Also, does anyone think there will be an issue with the dealership working with my mods (TMIC, BOV, exhaust and other random stuff) or would this only be an issue if this was warranty work??

Good news is the WRX should be done by the end of this week with a new engine and new turbo.

Just a thought. I don't know exactly how bad it is but my car had water in the manifold too and mine came out okay. I guess it just matters if the engine is totally hydro locked or not. And the amount of water. Just a thought. Trying to save you money, as in you may want to try and get a second opinion. Btw you might want to find out if ur getting a brand new engine or a used one. When mine was in question my insurance would have only gotten me a used one.

Make sure they use brand new parts. Insurance companies are notorious for trying to put used in, but it is within your right to request only new parts be used. There should be no issue with your mods with out of warranty repairs.

I would second the second opinion idea, unless they have some proof, like block damage or bent rods or something like that.

I have hacked my mazdaspeed intake into a SRI, it isn't too bad, just make sure you get a sharp blade and you cut straight and it will work fine, it has worked fine for me for close to 6 months now. Eric (Firestoned) did the same thing with his.

Subaru says the people who did my last oil change put in too much oil, I dont really buy that though...there are countless other 09 wrx owners with engines getting replaced due to internal engine failure...seems to be affecting the 09's that were built july aug and september of 08. I think there is an issue with a rod bearing being bad?, not super clear on the situation though. That car already had 15,000 miles on it so I welcome the new engine obviously. I should be getting that back tommorow or friday.

your mazdaspeed intake should be a 2 piece intake anyway... just take off the lower part and throw the filter on the top pipe.

We don't care about mods. Unless it is the direct cause of the problem. We are pretty laid back here.

Randy, Jack ran his MS3 forever with an SRI version of the MS intake. You will be fine; no reports that i have seen of running the MS in short ram being a problem.

Yikes on the wrx! I have read a lot of new wrx's and STi's suffering engine failures the past few months. Sorry you had to be one of them, but i'm happy to hear SOA is taking care of it.

it should. Otherwise just run without, most people have ran the original that way without issue (pre-air straightener days)

Sounds good, will be doing this as soon as I get the car back. Do you guys think the car will be harder to sell now that the engine has been replaced? I've heard yes and no. Opinions?

THis is just one reason why I have a new found love for Burt now that the Longmont dealer went down. Sorry but Sill Terhar is not on my good side right now.

to anyone who is buying an MS3 because they know what an MS3 is...it wont hurt a resale. to the average buyer who doesnt care what an MS3 is...just wants a fast car..yah it may hurt resale because they think if the engine was replaced..then somthing else is bound to go horribly wrong soon.

Well I got my Subaru back today....had to drive it all the way home from Grand Junction...the new engine feels way different, but I should get used to it. Hopefully the Speed3 will be done next week.
