WOW! Those brakes really do fill up those wheel wells.
Are you back state side yet?

What's crazy, is that IIRC, those wheels are 19", and the brakes take up the entire inner diameter lol. That's nuts! Almost makes me want another Z.... almost lol, if only I was a "baller" like Robert and could afford to mod it as tastefully as him haha. BTW, my wife misses my old Z badly (mine was also a black '03 Touring), showed her pics of your car, and she mentioned something along the lines of "does he know I'm going to steal his car?... at least for a while" haha.
She didn't care when I sold my Speed6... but when I sold my Z, she got tears in her eyes lol. Out of the 3 cars I've owned since we've been together (my Z, Speed6 & STI) the Z was her favorite. It was the slowest of the 3 at altitude, the worst in the snow, probably rode the harshest on the freeway, ridiculously hot in the summer after being parked outside (black w/black leather) ect... but it didn't matter, that was still her favorite. Women just love pretty cars lol, that, and the seats, she loved the seats haha.

LOL Tell her I said thanks for the nice comments. If she can get into the garage, than into my house, pass my rotty for my keys, to deactivate my alarm, than locate my map switch so the car will have timing, unplug it from the battery charger, and start it (there is a trick to starting it
) all w/o waking up the wife or my neighbors that are home all day getting nosey, she's good. LOL
And yes at elevation the Z isn't the best "Northern state" year-round, perfromance car. But, imo, the coupe is a true "sports car." RWD, 287 or 300 N/A V6, two seater, 6-speed. When I traded in my '03 Evo the wife and I weren't sad at all. More upset at all the money we spent fixing it just to break even on the trade. Now the Z... It will be with us for a long time coming.

Money spent fixing the EVO? Not that I'm surprised lol, Mitsu's aren't known for reliability, but what happened to your EVO that you had to fix?
The STI is my daily driver, so for me, the Z just didn't cut it as a DD... I would like to get another 2 seat RWD sports car, as I've owned 2 of them (MR2 turbo & 350Z), but only as a 2nd car, like a project car, not a daily driver. I'm assuming with the cash you've spent on the Z, you have another car to use as a daily driver?

Normal POS evo problems; Clutch, front diff, HVAC controls, Water pump, power steering, starter, etc... LOL
My Z is my daily driver. My wife has her pos Outlander but the Z is my only car.

Yeah, normal EVO problems lol... it's sad, but true, which is a large part of the reason I bought an STI over an EVO, I learned my lesson about owning a Mitsubishi lol. How many miles did your EVO have on it when you sold it?
The Z is your daily driver? You're hardcore Robert... how far do you live from work, and by that, I mean when you're not overseas? lol. In Texas, before I was married, having the Z as a daily driver was no problem, but with the combination of snow & the fact we're expecting our first child in September, Z was no longer "practical enough" for me. Not saying you can't drive the Z in the snow, just in comparison to an AWD car, it sucks pretty bad, and you have to drive considerably slower... actually, if I had invested as much as you have in your Z, I would be deathly afraid to drive it in the snow lol, and would probably buy some old beater Subaru for winter driving, that I wouldn't give a shit if it got dinged up... but, I know you've been deployed for a good portion of the time you've owned the car, and are moving to Texas after you get back, so in your position, I could see having the Z as a DD.

Yeah I don't think I'll ever own another Mitsushiti product again. I traded my Evo in with 31k on it. Don't miss it at all now. LOL
My Z is my daily and I love getting behind the wheel. When I was still AD USAF I was about 15-20 mins from Peterson. Now I never drove it in the snow unless a freak storm came. The wife and I would carpool on snow days. I won't have the worries of driving it now in the snow since I'm moving to Texas.
However I'm also looking at getting a second car since I'll be going back to school. I don't want to leave the Z in an open parking lot for 6-7 hrs. The wife and I already discuss this and we both agree the Z is now a weekend cruiser/track day car.
To be honest I'd like to get a used 03/04 STi to be my daily. Do some basic mods like the AP, full TBE, and wrx wing. Net around the 300awhp. Be perfect for just driving around town.

Yeah, for me, my STI is the perfect Colorado daily driver for someone who still wants to have a fun car that hauls ass, although if you're thinking about getting a car for a daily driver, you should also give thought to just a regular WRX, as they don't ride nearly as rough, but can still get good power out of them... actually, sadly enough, the 06-07 WRX's, since they have higher compression than the STI, with an AP, TBE & the STI's VF39 turbo (which can be had for about $200-$300 on Nasioc), they put down more power than an STI with an AP & TBE
Check out Cobb's listed OTS maps for the 2006 WRX vs 2006 STI:
http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/subaru.../06WRXMaps.html
http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/subaru.../06STiMaps.html
Notice, the WRX's VF39 (stock STI turbo) map on 91 octane, is rated at 357hp, compared to the STI's Stage 2 map on 91 octane is only rated at 345hp... although, the STI makes more torque, 385 ft-lb vs 329 ft-lb. Another sad thing is, the 06-07 2.5L WRX basically has the same internals as the STI, and the same size injectors (some people argue the 06-07 WRX has larger injectors), so you can run the STI's turbo without needing to swap injectors.
Anyway, the STI gets the 6-speed, stiffer suspension, Brembo's, BBS wheels ect ect, but the WRX has a more compliant ride, taller gears (i.e. slightly better gas mileage), and is a bit more low-profile than the STI... so, unless you planned on tracking the car (which you have the uber-fast Z for...), I would recommend you check out the '06-07 WRX, as it makes a pretty good daily driver, without being too harsh, like the STI can be. The 06-07 WRX even has larger brakes than the 02-05's (4-pot/2-pot vs 2-pot/1-pot), so it's a pretty good amount of car for your money, substantially more than the 02-05 WRX's. Just a thought
