Yeah, the mileage was a bit of a shock. RWD, I'm happy with. Thankfully, it's going to be driven more for fun that as a commuter. I pretty much bike or walk to work, now that I have parking sorted out.

Right now, it's looking right around 200 for a tank, but I haven't really measured it too officially yet. I kept having to deal with the stereo and the trip odo would get reset. I'd never pay attention what the actual odometer read. This will be the first tank I really watch.

One of the common complaints (other than oil)...the goofy "see-through" sun visors on these things. I agree. Why are there holes in my visor? Isn't it supposed to block the sun??

I kinda like the holes in the visor when the sun is in my face i can see the light when it turns without trying to look under the visor and the tiny holes still block the sun somewhat and allow you to see the light when it changes i think thats why they did it. but thats just me [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

when i had my sisters car for a few weeks when the 8 was in the shop i hated not haveing the little holes lol

Holy shit! I thought my STI was bad... mixed driving I'm averaging about 22mpg, and getting around 260-270 miles per tank.

The visor on the Driver's side of my RX8 broke last week and just cracked down the seam. Apparently it's a problem on the 06's when the weather gets cold?? That's what the dealer said but he is replacing it for free, part should be in next week. I'm sure it will still have the holes though :)

Welcome to the club! Your visor cracked? Hmm...that seems odd. Glad you're getting it replaced for free.

Mine broke too. So did the little tab that keeps the center console from sliding when it's open. It's a design flaw. It's happened to a lot of people. No worries mazda will replace for free.

I get pretty good gas mileage. When I drive like a grandma. [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/16cfdfbf.gif[/img]

Wait this was about the visors first. I like them kinda. Forgot who said it but the holes do let you see when the light changes. Doesn't bother me.

My center console lid was broke when I bought it. Fixed it myself, but still made Mazda replaced it with a new one, which they did. If I could machine it, it would be an easy permanent fix. As far as the visors go, I've never used visors in any vehicle I owned. I just thought it was funny after I read the article, checked out mine, and thought...hmm, that seems like a weird idea. Pretty soon, they'll just be glass see-through visors. Haha.

I have always liked rear wheel drive better. The gas mileage on my old rx-7 is 17 in town and 25 highway. I loose about a quart every 3k and I have oil leaks. go figure?

I can't stand front wheel drive cars. Their steering just seems weird. RWD and AWD all the way. Gas mileage isn't all too bad. I think when I drive normally I get about 18 MPG city. Just shift around 4k all the time and easy on the throttle.
