dumb question: but does water mess something up if it gets sucked in there? like from a bad rain-storm or car-wash? I love the look

I read some stuff a while back on MSF and if i remember correctly they were saying it doesn't really matter, and that it couldn't hurt the engine. they were talking about our stock intake to the intercooler though so i don't think this one would be much different..

Yea the stock intake is fully enclosed in the airbox, so water getting into the engine bay wouldn't hurt anything. An exposed filter on a SRI though, I don't know if I'd trust it in really heavy rains.

As for the intercooler, it's sealed so you can dump water on it all you want and it won't hurt anything. The real concern is getting water in the intake.

Plus, the stock hood already has ducting that brings air from the grill straight onto the intercooler, so having the scoop there isn't going to bring any more air to the TMIC than it already gets, though I suppose it could let some of the heat out of the engine bay when you're idling, but long periods of idling would still heatsoak the TMIC even with the scoop.

So this hood would do just as good of a job as the stock hood with the vents in delivering air to the intercooler? Cause i don't want to lose performance or anything i just love the look.

No you wouldn't lose performance. There's just a common misconception that having a hood scoop like the 2010+ would improve performance on the first gens, and that isn't the case.

The biggest concern with water under the hood should be the ECU and wire connections. Intakes you pretty much have to submerge the opening and suck water into the engine before you have an issue. unless all looks and no-go are what your into...there are many other things I would do first. 700 for the hood and 300+ for paint... with that you can get either an FMIC, or an intake, ap, downpipe and bypass valve....900ish is alot for just looks on an already really good looking car..

Id fork out the cash for a CP-E or another company that does alot of R&D. Especially in an emissions heavy state like CO you have to be careful what type of exhaust mods you do. I would talk to people that have passed emissions with a downpipe and find out what they are running. I have had good luck with Cobb and CP-E mods...thats why I usually suggest them...alot of the ebay garbage out there requires modifications to force it to fit...its cheap for a reason.
