Only thing it ever went into service for was its normal maintenance and then one time the trunk wouldn't close without me trying 3 or 4 times and then across the top if the dash the defrost vent for the front windshield came loose multiple times. Miss my full leather GLI seats, some of the best seats I've ever sat in.

Loved that car, but now love my mk6 GTI.

turbo99jetta wrote:Btw, good idea for first mod... Buy a VAG-com. Ross tech makes it. Worth every penny for data logging code clearing and cool little tweaks.

Also a couple good boards. http://Www.metrodubs.com

Thanks! I agree about the GLI seats, they are pretty awesome! Really comfortable and sporty.

I've had the car for a little over a year now, been on plenty of boards. Not a huge fan of Vortex, I'm on GolfMKV.com more, although I don't post anything. I have nothing to add, yet.

And, apparently, the urge the mod just doesn't go away;

First real mod. I have a friend who works at Evolution Motorsports (EVOMS) in Phoenix and he hooked me up with their CAI for my Jetta. First impressions- a lot more turbo noise, sounds pretty cool. Haven't driven much so I can't say anything regarding the Butt Dyno but horsepower pickup is probably limited.

I really purchased it because the factory air box is integrated into the plastic engine cover, and my engine cover broke. Time for upgrades!

Next plans are APR Stage2 tune, 3" Stainless catless downpipe, and better tires. Should be pushing close to 300ft-lbs at wheels with that setup.

The cuscc car show was full of vw today. Some nice looking cars of all sorts. From a fully restored beetle to a hellaflush gti, to a full race gti and everything in between.

any problems with the CAI causing a Vibration in the Brake line? Mine used to hit the cable out of the top of it and vibate like fing crazy. Drove me nuts when I had the EVoMS intake.

How's the car? I didn't realize the post was a year old. Haha.

Nope, haven't noticed any issues at all. Put about 150 miles on the Jetta with the new intake thus far.

It sounds weird with the noise pipe still connected, with the diverter valve "wooshing" and making more turbo noise in the cabin, so I need to remove and plug the noise pipe, do a DV relocation, or get the A3 throttle pipe that deletes it altogether.
