Well... Geico can suck it. They decided to not total out the car. Now it's in the shop and I'm fairly sure they're going to be told it's totaled because the shop is actually going to take it apart and do a more thorough check. A whole bunch 'o waiting is occurring and I am not happy about it.
FML... I hate Geico.

I'd love a Forester XT

I'm only responsible for $250 so whatever Geico wants to throw at it, let them. I'm still selling the car after it's fixed. No way in hell am I keeping that after what's happened to it.

I'd think you could get an updated quote pretty quick, so it shouldn't hold you back too long.

But if they start the repairs will they continue them even if it's over the value of the car? That's my concern. I think Geico will be sending me a check for the repairs instead of just paying the shop so hopefully I'll be able to just put that money into savings and let it sit until the car is declared totalled... again.

I don't think they usually spend time and money doing half of the repairs and then stop and say whoops, it should have been totaled in the first place. And if the shop's estimate is that far off from what it actually costs to do the job, they need to do a better job of estimating.

The shop didn't do the estimate. Geico has their own adjusters. The shop is going to take it all apart and add to the adjustment. I can only hope there is $1,000 worth of damage that Geico's adjuster didn't see.
