Foglights..

Heyo so I copied Jack and just removed my foglights for two reasons.. one um they were both broken from rocks lol and two for more air.

Just wanted to let you know what I found out

I watched my Intake air temperature alot while I had my cobb SRI on and it was always 15-20 degrees warmer than the ambient air sensor which is right behind the mesh grill on the bumper. With the foglights out I've been ranging from 5-12 degree's warmer than outside air which is a nice increase in cool air. the 8-12 is just while cruise control is on and your not actively sucking in air with some force. Just thought I'd share

K this is how they look and I have some toys inside there now... Total of 4.

Damn I'm good!! Lol Another thing you could remove Josh... the rubber seal along the top of your hood. It releases alot of warm air from the engine while driving and at a standstill. Try it, you could easily put it back on too.

^^^ I agree, plus the pad on the interior of the hood. That's there to reduce noise, and to prevent boiling the paint on the hood. Sorry, but can't see the hood ever getting hot enough for that to happen.

If your talking about the pad that is held with little black plastic tabs, then i personally suggest leaving it. From what i have read/been told, it is not to keep the paint from boiling (which i agree would never happen), but it is a fire suppression piece. If the engine bay was to catch fire, the little plastic tabs would melt off and the pad would drop onto the bay, thus creating a blanket smothering the flames and preventing a lot of oxygen from reaching the fire. Another reason why you should never open the hood of a car is the engine bay is on fire (don't feed the flames!) Unless of course you have the proper fire extinguisher to put out the fire...

Josh from what you saw with the bumper off, is there any way to duct air directly to the SRI?

Was the ambient air temp the same between you diagnostic runs? Different ambient air temp would lead to different intake air temp. The relationship between the two regardless of CAI or SRI is not a straight line curve and does differ as a function of the ambient air temperature.

I'm not saying that your results aren't accurate, just trying to get some more info as to whether or not it is the increased air flow from removing the fog lights.

It was roughly the same temps I've been watching it at different levels from 30-40 degree's - 50-69 degree's and noting the differences and am comparing it to what I see now.

redirect the air to your brakes cheap ass... also any thoughts to removing the fog light housing as well?

Edit: I think that you should paint it Matt black. I think Jack would agree.

i understand they are moulded, but they kinda look empty sans foglights...if the goal is to get air up in there, remove the housing too, custom work...you
are good at that josh, then rerout the air via custom air dams... nevermind...

in retrospect there is no clean way to remove the housings...and knowing you , you would f* it up.... big time making it look like poo...as usual
