Does anybody else have the aluminum gas cap on their speed 6? Im wondering if anybody knows if it can be switched out to the standard painted cap. Dumbass dealer told me they had to drill holes in the car to install this cap?!?!?!

I have it too, but I don't know if it can be swapped out. I like mine though, but on a red car it probably doesn't look too good.

I don't think holes were drilled to have an aluminum gas cover door. Look inside and it should be attached by a bracket and some bolts that you yourself should be able to take off. My 2 cents on this is because at the Red Rocks Meet we were checking out Scotts (milehighspeed3) Cosmic Blue Speed3 that also had an aluminum gas door. It looked to be a DIY assembly/disassembly. Could be different though...

No drill listed as a "needed tool" in the instructions. Looks like those outer bolts on the trim piece are just for display. Check it out:

Aw come on, you haven't lived until you've taken a drill to the side of your car! When I installed my side skirts, I had to drill several holes, a couple of which were on the side of the front fender, so if I screwed up it could have been BAD.

I think this looks good for now, i have never liked the chrome look on most 6's, it looks okay on silver ones IMO. Im excited to see how this looks painted!!

this is the "upgraded cap" that the car came with. I HATE IT... I ordered just a regular mazda6 cap, going to have it painted to match the car... anybody want this "$100 upgrade"

Interesting compromise. Do you have a full body shot of the car, that would help a little more. Do you plan on trying to sell this one once the regular door arrives?

Sometimes you have to upgrade the upgrade.
