Registration Cost Estimates

So as you all know I'm the newbie Mazda owner on here, looking to get my new 6 this Saturday. Really Really excited. Of course there is a cost with that excitement.

I managed to find insurance on the car for around $600 every 6 months and for a guy under 25 that's doing pretty good.

My question is on the cost of registration. Anyone else with a 6 out there remember about how much it cost to register your new car in Colorado?

I'm budgeting for about $700 but that is just an estimate based off what my dad paid for his new infinity.

Any ideas would be really helpful, even if you don't have a 6 how much was it to register your new car?

I heard that they were rasing the prices soon but I can't remember when and how much.

I believe the $30-40 hike in the registration price (to fund CO roads) wont go into effect until June or July 2009. For my 2006 (Used) 6 it was just under $300 for plates. I hope that helps. Good luck!

Amazing... Calling the county and getting transferred to the DMV actually resulted in me talking to a real person.

Who would have thunk it.

Answer is about $700 to $750 in Jefferson county for a car with a sticker price around $30k

Probably good knowledge for anyone looking to get a new car.

Thanks for your help!

OUCH! That's a lot.

I wanted to wipe my ass with the $100 check I had to write to the DMV to renew my plates.

I was going ask for what county. Most counties have a site where you can estimate it.

Is that just sales tax, or sales + registration. I'd think it would be more than that. To register my '04 RX-8 with a book price around $20k, it was $1,221 to register in CO (El Paso County).

That sucked.
