So today while spending way too much time on Wikipedia, I was looking at Car and Driver's 10 Best List, and realized, Mazda is actually #4 on their list of overall manufacturer wins over the years, found the info over here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_and_Driver_Ten_Best
Here's the list of Top manufacturers:
From 1983 through 2007, the following marques were represented on the list the most times, including both the car and truck lists (except for the 2007 trucks which are not yet announced).
Rank Marque Number of wins
1 Honda 99
2 Ford 27
3 BMW 23
4 Mazda 21
5 Chevrolet 18
6 Acura 16
7 Audi 15
7 Nissan 15
9 Chrysler 13
9 Porsche 13
^^^I never realized how dominant Honda is... I have no idea how Toyota out sells them?!? As a matter of fact, I don't understand how Toyota out sells a TON of companies... I just don't get it, Toyota makes some of the most lame, boring cars on earth IMO, that is since they canceled the Supra, MR2, Celica ect. Although, on another note, Mazda has plenty of wins, but is ridiculously inconsistent on keeping good cars on their lineup, with the exception of the Miata. Case in point, here's the top 10 Best individual cars list:
From 1983 through 2006, the following individual models were represented on the list the most times:
Rank Model Number of wins
1 Honda Accord 29
2 BMW 3-Series 16
3 Chevrolet Corvette 13
4 Honda Prelude 10
5 Mazda Miata 8
5 Porsche Boxster 8
7 Ford Taurus 7
7 Nissan 300ZX 7
9 Acura Integra 6
9 BMW 5-Series 6
9 Honda Civic 6
Note: The Acura RSX and Acura Integra are similar models. The RSX's 2002 and 2003 wins would bring the Integra into 5th place if their numbers were combined.
Here's the list of Mazda's that have won the award:
1. Mazda Miata- 1990, 1991, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2007
2. Mazda RX-7- 1983, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1995
3. Mazda 626- 1984
4. Mazda MPV- 1990, 1991
5. Mazda 6- 2003
6. Mazda RX-8- 2004, 2005, 2006
7. Mazdaspeed 3- 2007
I just thought it was pretty cool, and felt like sharing, on another note, me being a Subaru owner, Subaru only had 2 cars on there, the 2002 & 2003 WRX. Goes to show you just how good Mazda really is.
