LOL. Obviously the guy reporting it there has never owned a Saab! I had 3 PCV updates on my 9-5s from 2000 - 2007. We were all told to switch to full synth as well.

Good to hear Mazda address this issue. Luckily, my turbo is being replaced with the engine, so hopefully no more smoke.

Not at all easier for me. I'd have to return to 100% stock to get it taken care of

Usually this is a TSB. You don't have to be stock to get that fixed. I ordered the PCV kit for my Saab, and did it myself. It was about $50.

I don't get to post about working on my Mazda. LOL

I try to offer up based on previous similar experiences if I can.

Some day....

I was thinking turbo issue and thus replacement

Awesome! If they meet their 90 day window, I can get this done under warranty!!

I hope this escalates to a recall, but I know it never will. Unfortunately I am well outside of warranty coverage, so a TSB is worthless except that they know there is a problem.

So your saying if it's the PCV that needs replacing I shouldn't have to go to stock, but if my turbo seals are bad than I do? I called Clark at STH yesterday and he said yes, if it's the turbo I need to go back to 100% stock as a MZ engineer would likely show up to inspect before major warranty repair.

How do I convince STH that it's the PCV?

When I was reading up on OCC's awhile back, I thought I saw where people were replacing the PCV at the same time....even installing 2 of them? If the PCV is the culprit, isn't that something that you would rather do on your own, without having to dick with the dealer?

That sucks that you're experiencing this. I was hoping your OCC would have superceeded the need for the PCV...:( But what do I know?
