Postby rmeeker13 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:14

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on liscense plate covers...if you have them take em off, i got stopped on I25 not two seconds after passing a state patrol car. I thought he got me for my taillights cause their very dark...didnt say shit about that but gave me a warning on the LP covers...its like a $135.00 fine i guess!

Plans: Paint Calipers, Lightly tint headlights, get rid of side moldings, and do some other tinting.

I beleive any LP cover is illegal eventhough most don't bother pulling you over.

The cover is a smoke tinted one, but its really light tho...the cop said it had to do with the cameras for photoradar or some shit like that! Oh well, at least he was cool about it and gave me a warning!

The law here USED to read that any cover couldn't interfere with visibility of the plate by people or cameras. I believe that's changed now, and you just can't cover them. Robs them of too much $$.

Technically you can get a ticket for a "obstructed" plate or no front plate but they are rare. However a covered plate or no front plate does satisfy cause for a stop or "contact". So if it is "happy hour", your not wearing a seat belt etc. or whatever reason, you are somewhat sending an open invitation. Just be aware of that if it is two in the morning and your on your way home from a social event........ FYI

I agree. I used to not drive with a front license plate, had my tails smoked pretty dark, 5% tinted windows. Don't do any of that anymore - it's not worth the invitation to get pulled over in case I am absolutely hammered driving home from the watering hole at 2 in the morning. :D

I've never been pulled over for either a covered plate or no front plate. However, parking in Denver, whether in the city or in residential areas, you can 100% expect to get a parking ticket for either.
