My brother-in-law has a '96 4Runner. He said it wouldn't start and the shop wanted $250 for a starter and about another $250 for the labor. I asked him what was going on with it. He explained the typical problem... I told him to order the contact repair kit, and I'd fix it for him. I found the YoTech site right after he agreed to let me save him some $$. Thanks to a sticky by "Bob_98SR5" it was made a bit easier. It was 10 degrees in the garage where I did the work and chunks of snow and ice were part of the fun.
Happy Holidays!

The thermometer on my garage wall rarely goes below 40- even when it's in the single digits outside. Of course, if the door is open or was recently opened, then it drops. But it's nothing that driving a nice warm engine into the garage and turning on a few halogen shop lights won't fix fairly quickly.

I had to leave the door open in order to have easier access to the front of his truck. I have a huge stove and commercial fridge (from a closed restaurant) taking up a lot of the garage space. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so frigid! My brother-in-law threatened to buy a heater as he transitioned back and forth between the garage and house.
I hope I never have a real need for one!
Maybe our Mazda forum will one day be filled with as much info. as that Toyota one.
