Knock or Overboost?

So lately when its been cold out my speed6 has been acting a lil weird. When I go WOT on the freeway sometimes the engine cuts out for a split second then starts pulling agian. Iv got an access port and an interceptor gauge and i had the boost set to around 16lbs. I set my interceptor to monitor knock, got on the freeway and went WOT and felt a surge while looking at the gauge and saw nothing. Then I set it to monitor boost, went WOT and my boost hit around 19lbs then I felt the surge. I figured the problem must have been overboost, so I just cranked up the boost to 18.5lbs. The problem went away for a while but recently its been happening again. I got quite a few mods and probably need a custom tune, but idk where to get it tuned or how much it might cost. Any ideas???

is it happening around 5k rpm range if yes then il have to agree its fuel cut...do you have a upgraded hpfp? if your heavily modded up then you probabloy should get a tune, but with tuners its going to be more of a modest thing everyone has their favorites

The AP OTS maps do raise the limits but it don't get rid of them entirely. I don't know if you can turn them off completely or if you just keep raising the limits further. I couldn't run the OTS stage 2 map on my car because I would hit cuts all the time. Never got any cuts with the stage 1 OTS map. Ended up just getting a custom tune for $350 from Nick at MAC Autosport and the car ran great after that. No more cuts.
The OTS maps are crap anyway because there are so many different combinations of parts that they can't release a map for every possible combination. I would only run an OTS map temporarily until I could get a custom tune.

Keep an eye on fuel pressure at WOT too, make sure its not dipping dangerously low. Some of these cars get touchy when it gets pretty cold.

Yea, make sure it's staying above ~1600psi through the whole RPM range at WOT.

I used to get the same thing at extreme cold temps. I logged my fuel pressure and sure as shit, it would drop to like 900psi and my teeth would eat the steering wheel.

thanks all, i will have to set my gauge to check fuel pressure and check it out... its finally gotten nice out in denver so i might have to wait a few to find out for sure. i want to do a couple more mods b4 gettin a custom tune, and i cant really afford on right now. thanks for all the input!!!

Is this on the Stage 2 OTS map? If so you could try the Stage 1 map and see if it runs any better. You might be slightly slower but at least you might be able to avoid the cuts until you can get a custom tune. That's what I ultimately had to do even though I already had a downpipe and everything you're supposed to need to run a Stage 2 map.

I had the same thing happen to me on my MS3 the other day. It is definitely fuel Cut and it was because I hit my overboost target. It happens to me about once a winter. It will happen way more often with a DP. The only way to get rid of it completely is with a custom tune.
