I noticed there is a kit for an EGR delete. Is this a worthy investment to keep soot and carbon build-up out of the disi engine?

there is a huge thing about this on msf..there is alot of mixed reviews i believe it does throw cel's also

Doing the egr today with a kit from jbarone. Cel shouldn't be an issue with the AP. Will report back any issues.

Ok so it pops a CEL P0401. If you have an AP is can be disabled. My tube was dirty but my valves and intake manifold were not bad at all for 45k. I also had a huge drop in BATs. On a day like today I would see 130-150 at extended idle. Now it is down to a max of 110 but usually in the 95-105 range. It is hard to tell how much effect the delete had though as I installed intake and throttle body thermal gaskets, egr delete, TB coolant bypass, and thermal wrapped some sections of intercooler pipe that were touching coolant lines all on the same day.

I would say for how easy and cheap it is to bypass why not do it. Can't hurt to lose all of that soot into the combustion chamber.

I am interested in doing this too but my question is, will the car still pass emissions? Will your NOx level be too high now?

Not sure. I don't have to worry about that for 2 more years. I'm catless now but plan on bolting in a regular cat when emission time comes. Its an easy install if you have to put it back on. Take off intake/TIP/throttle body and it comes right off. I would suggest doing SURE thermal gaskets and TB bypass while u are in there. Cheap stuff and dropped BATs not only at idle but on boost as well.
