Looking at a family car and like them both...
What kind of Gas milage do you get with them?
If you own a 7, do you wish you got more room with the 9?
Any major problems at all?

In my experience working at Mazda and driving them both, the CX-7 absolutely DOES NOT get better mileage than the CX-9, despite the fact it's a smaller car with a smaller engine. Also way too laggy for me. I prefer the 9.

I would agree. I would also have some concerns with having a turbo 4 on an SUV and am referring to the long term potential maintenance on the car.

I like Tanya's CX-9 a lot. Stupid amount of room inside, from a car that doesn't look hulking from the outside. My only qualm, is that she didn't opt for the AWD version, but alas...
Surprisingly spunky engine, too!

don't really care if its AWD or not. Have had a FWD car for most my driving career and can put them almost any where I please in snow and ice.
I am also looking at the 2011 Outlander Sport. Only 148 HP, but a 6 speed auto, or manual tranny. Supposadly 25/31 mpg's. and a decent price.

The Outlander would be brutally slow. It would lose to Corollas. They're only 3100 lbs (auto), which isn't bad for a small SUV, but still, my Impreza has 170hp and weighs 3100 lbs and it is a gutless wonder at this altitude. When you need that little boost of power to make a lane change in traffic it just isn't there. But if you are mostly a passive driver and don't mind it being slow, I'm sure it would be reliable and the gas mileage is nice.

Not to mention you have to buy an Obama sticker to go on it.

I had an Outlander for 3 years back when they came out. A good car really, but with a massive 150hp under the hood I had to get rid of it..Painfully slow..Was looking at a Lancer and thank God, saw an article about a MS3.. The rest is history.....Also bought my daughter an Eclipse- the paint fell off. Finally Mitsu had a lawsuit brought against them and they repainted it. But it took a lawsuit for them to do the right thing. Pretty much all black Eclipse's painted here (not Japan) had the issue...

I've had my CX-7 for 4 years now....love it....plenty of room for me and my 120 lb dog..No issues until now and the only issue is from my mods....Just have to tighten up some clamps on the TMIC....Great CUV....add a intake and the lag is very little....add other mods and it's a blast to drive....

Whats the MPG Rush?

by rush24
Depends on my driving....with mods and being heavy on the gas...17 mpg -20 mpg...265-350 miles per tank ....normal driving I've seen 22 mpg...Before any mods average was between 20-22...If you do a lot of highway driving you'll see 25-27 mpg...
Not bad overall....

I have an 08 CX-7 AWD and I love it. I love it so much, that's why I bought my MS3 a year later. No issues with either car so far. Plenty of room for me and my family (wife + 2 kids). I don't want a car that's so big that can haul a lot of people anyway because when you're planing to go somewhere, everyone will expect you to drive them because you have a big car.

we were only looking at the 9 because we will be toting around 2 kids, dog(s), and junk for a weekend to our parents house. We wanted to make sure we would have enough room.
the little 3 is tight right now with 1 kid, 1 dog, and crap

The CX-7 has plenty of room...just had my 2 nephews and niece in the back seat yesterday...plus my dog in the very back...everyone was comfortable...it's one of those bigger on the inside vehicles... Plus cheaper than a 9....
