Totaled Mazda

Postby bellalyssa » Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:14

Hey guys, just thought I'd give everyone a heads up that my little Mazda3 has died. I was heading up Rist Canyon and as I turned a corner a deer popped out in front of me. I overcorrected, ended up hitting the mountain with the front of my car, spinning, then hitting the back. It's totaled without them even popping the hood :/ The pictures are below:

I'm ok, just a bit of whiplash and a mark where my seatbelt dug in to my shoulder. The deer is fine, in case anyone was wondering. Whatever aftermarket bits I can pull off the car, I will and sell them.

She had a good run :)

Sorry to hear! At least you're alright! Cars are replaceable, people aren't!

As I was saying on Facebook, get a Legacy GT! And nice pink calipers :p

Sorry to see that Lyssa. So I guess that handles the problem of what to do with the car when you leave the country huh?

I already have a replacement lined up for when I get the check from my insurance. It'll be a highly modified Audi A4 Avant. Hold judgement before you see it. This thing is sexy. It's got a front mount, upgraded k04 turbo, bilstein height adjustable shocks, neuspeed springs, custom exhaust, Revo tuning system with 3 maps, sway bars, HIDs, hardwired radar detector and much more.

Noooo! A4s are for teenage boys who think they are cool, and 40+ women.

Glad you're OK.

I go with a NO on the Audi too. Especially a modified one.

Lyssa - Very sorry to hear about this incident.
HELL NO to Audi. Unless you're much more of a masochist and much richer than I think! :-)
It'd be a maintenance nightmare stock, and modified? Carry running shoes, skiis, and a bike in the trunk to get home.
You must know Mark Baer at SCR? I'd strongly encourage you to talk with him, get his sage advice, and certainly have them check out the car.
Besides, what happens to it when you leave the USA?
Again, most glad you are okay! G-Man

I'm with G-Man. Audis are nightmares to maintain stock, and I'm going to assume that modifying the car will just make it worse.

Also, if the check you get from your 3 is enough to get an A4 that is as heavily modified as you say it is, I would be even more concerned. Unless your adding a decent amount of your own money too.

Go with a Subaru like you were talking about. WRX or LGT, either one will be better than an A4 IMO. Better looking, easier to maintain. I honestly don't think you can beat Subaru for N/A cars when it comes to reliability, Honda is probably right there with them. FI will take away from some of that reliability, but it will still be more reliable than an A4. Not to mention, you can get a WRX as a hatchback, and the LGT as a full wagon as well.
