CEL came on the other day and I checked the gas cap and it was loose. tightened it up and usally CEL turns off after a couple days but its been a week. finally checked code with AP... its
PCM
P2187
which I think is "System too lean at idle, bank 2". No me gusta. Any ideas?

It could be a few things.
1. You have a large leak AFTER the maf but before the turbo. This would cause unmetered air into the system and the lean CEL popping. Check your TIP. I belive this code is fired off when the LTFTs max out at +/- 25%. That leads to #2.
2. If your LTFTs are running max enrichment +25% you have an issue. The only way to determine this is by running a few logs while doing a MAF pull. Start very slowly in 2nd while monitoring MAF g/s. Continue to give the car gas and let the MAF g/s go up linearly until they reach 200+. While doing this you need to log maf g/s, maf voltage, LTFT. Let me know if you have any other questions or post up your log after you run it.

Can just about guarantee that's a boost leak, and probably a major one. Check all connections, to your BPV especially. When I threw that code a cap had popped off a T I was using so I had a huge boost leak. Recapped it, added a couple extra zip ties to hold the cap on, and it was fine after that.
While it was happening I was idling at 17-18 AFR and my STFTs were maxing out at 25%+. Also, for me it was fine if I was driving down the road because the BPV would close off this particular line, but when idling with the BPV open, that's when it would go way lean. Just noting this in case you do what dsm_luck suggested in #2 and everything is fine while driving but you have the problem while stopped and idling.

Thanks. Looks like i got some work to do. I wont see my car for a week or so tho.. lame. Thanks for the advice. Ill post up my findings when i can

finally got some time to look under the hood. turns out the small boost tube coming off the TIP came off. replaced the tube and cleared the code with my AP. hopefully it doesnt come back on.

Glad you found something. Hopefully this'll set you straight!

Ok so i replaced the little boost tube to the TIP, changed my AP map to lower boost (map 1+91), and cleared the CEL code. I have been running the 2+91 map and have not really had any problems. I have hit fuel cuts occasionally but not very often. Everything seemed to be running ok until i was driving home from A Basin yesterday. A couple times on the way up i hit fuel cuts and i was trying to drive pretty conservatively. On the way down my CEL came on again. When I got home I checked the code w my AP and i threw the same one plus another one. "P0234" was the new code that came up which im pretty sure means the car over boosted. I checked the tube i replaced and it was still connected. So, I changed back to the 2+91 map and cleared the codes. I drove back to A Basin (oh yeah i live in dillon so its not that far) and was on it pretty hard. I didnt hit any fuel cuts and the CEL has not come back on. I was data logging on the way up too, but I havent checked it yet.
Here is my mod list: Custom CAI. Darkstar turbo inlet. ETS 3.5” TMIC. Synchronic BOV (full recirc). Cobb AP. Denso 1 step colder plugs. Custom OCC. SU Test Pipe. Next i plan on getting some HPFP internals and a down pipe. After I get everything i plan on getting a custom tune. I just cant really afford anything right now. Anyone have any suggestions for me for the time being?

I think you were hitting boost cut which is why it popped that code. I get that code if I hit boost cut. I am pretty sure you are running into the problem I did with the OTS map at altitude. There is a map under ATR labeled Boost Tables: Boost Limits - Fuel Cut. It is modified by by altitude. The stock OTS limits are too low above 6000 ft elevation. I was targeting 24 psi and anytime I would climb above 6500 feet I would cut past 16 psi. It was this table causing the issue.

That makes sense cuz i have been in summit county lately. Do you think getting a custom tune would help? If I did get a tune would it make sense to get a high altitude and a "regular" altitude tune if i could afford a couple maps? Iv heard about problems w the HPFP after adding a few mods. Do the aftermarket internals on protege garage make a significant difference (cuz there pretty f'in expensive)? Im thinking im gonna try to save up some money and get the internals, a dp and a custome tune all at the same time but i know that will be over $1000.

I was basically fully bolted on the stock k04 while running 4 gallons of e85 before I saw a dip in fuel pressure. This was in the dead of winter as well. Your mileage may vary and upgraded internals a a solid next mod. Go with KMD. I have had mine for 10k and am running 75% E-85 and FP is solid.
If you just want to rid yourself of boost cut when you go up in elevation its super simple. I can do it for you. Takes 2 minutes in ATR to adjust the numbers that are set too low. Honestly if you are planning to pay for a tune I would just wait as long as you are on the k04. It runs out of breath at this altitude quickly and then you are throwing money away trying to get a few extra HP over a mildly modified OTS Cobb map. If you plan on staying with the k04 an intake, dp, AP, and internals would be all you would need to pull what power you can out of the k04.

Wow i never really checked out ATR untill now. I didnt realize you could customize your own maps. I just got it working on my computer... its pretty flippin sweet. Thats a lot of info tho and i really dont want to mess anything up. Ill be out of town for a lil while but when i get back im gonna try to figure some of this stuff out. If im looking at that table dsm_luck told me about then the limits are crazy low. i was thinking of copying the baro press 77 line and pasting it in all of the above lines. still seems pretty limited. think i would run into any problems?

anyone think i would run into problems at altitude modifying the map that way or should i go a little more mild on the numbers? thanks in advance

I don't think you will have a problem by adjusting the fuel cut by atmospheric pressure table. I dunno if I'd copy and paste everything all the way up tho. I would probably copy the numbers from 14.7 psia (sea level) to the psia at 15K feet (around 8.3 psia).
good luck.
