I need it desperately, dealer down the street said $200, how much money would I save if I did it myself? And how complicated is it? I've installed HID's, done spark plugs. Both were stupid easy but other than that I'm a noob.

Tranny fluid is pretty easy but it's really messy. Generally you just undo a drain plug on the bottom and let it all drain out, then run a tube from the engine bay usually to the fill hole which is on the side or top of the transmission and let gravity do the work until it starts coming out the fill hole.

Tranny fluid stinks horribly though and if you have a wife she will complain about the smell in the garage for days.

If it's a manual gearbox then you can do a drain and fill like erod mentioned. Pretty simple.

Thats some good info. I'll plan to do mine in the street then. No need having an upset wife.

Also if you don't want to do it yourself, Brakes Plus will do it for about half what that dealer quoted you. And that's a flush not just an exchange.

Why do you need it desperately?

If its an auto there are a few ways to do it...

Drain and fill: Drain and measure the amount of liquid that came out > put the same amount back in > drive around a bit > drain and fill and repeat a few times.

Or you can do a "semi-flush": Drain and measure the amount of liquid that came out > put the same amount back in > unplug your cooler hose and start the car > let it pump out about 1 quart > fill 1 quart > start > 1 quart out > 1 quart in > repeat until the new clear ATF comes out of your cooler line.

You don't want it to pump out too much (more than 1 quart) because you don't want to get air in there and may burn out your pump.

Some manuals use ATF. My SRT-4, for example. I'm sure they'd put the right type in for his car.

I found this method of changing the manual transmission fluid on youtube. Do anybody know if it will work same as for 2008 Model? How do i know if the trans fluid is fill? I did not see the measure stick under the hood. Can trans fluid be overfill? Also is redline MT-90 a good motor oil to use?
