Update on Boulder's 'The Tire Source'

Some of you may know of The Tire Source in Boulder. They've been a long-time supporter of amateur motorsports and "the place to go" for tires, alignment, and advice in the area for 20-some years.

I had a long conversation today with Pete Spoelhof, former owner of The Tire Source. The Daily Camera article is pretty accurate (url below).

Pete's at the shop most days, but not involved with running the place. He's working hard to sell off about 1,000 tires in inventory. (Green Garage bought the business, but not his inventory.)

Check out http://www.tireseller.net
It's his website with a huge amount of inventory, for sale at low prices. He cannot do any mounting or balancing.

For now at least, the working staff at The Tire Source are the same. Steve is still doing alignments and the skilled team in the back are all there working on tires. The new Tire Source and Green Garage are moving to 55th Street in November, but Pete won't move with them.

Pete and The Tire Source have been hugely helpful to many of us at all levels of motorsports for several decades. For me personally, he's been a trusted advisor and counselor. We'll definitely miss his tremendous knowledge, caring, and guidance.

If you're looking for tires, definitely check out his website at http://www.tireseller.net for bargains, and to say thanks.

Are the Michelin PS2s that are 5/32s shaved down from 9/32s? I noticed they are cheaper too.

I'm kinda looking at 255/35 but I can't find them to match the 295/30, so I'm thinking 245/40 would work instead. That way I'd get all Michelin PS2.

Not sure if you're asking a question, but afraid I don't know the answer. I'd say drop an email or call to Pete - he's a total straight-shooter. Good luck!

I sent him an email already lol. I'm gonna call in the morning to make sure they still have the tires and if so, I'm going to go up and pick them up.

I went up there yesterday and picked up 6 tires, and he threw in a 7th because it had cords showing and he was going to toss it anyway. I got the Michelin Pilot Sports that I was talking about, along with another set for the rear that were only used for a week, but they're probably too big for the back (sidewall is 35 instead of 30), and I paid $200 each for those. He only charged me $100 for the other four tires though. He's a really good guy!

Oh, and I pointed to your picture on the wall and said you referred me haha.

LOL, ok if you want to. lol

I got the tires mounted today. They're too tall. I should have just waited to get some the right size. Pete is a really nice guy though.

Did you get 255/35/18?

I could make use of those if so. Let me know. Thinking you are on 17 though.

I'll have to check on the width and sidewall, but I'm on 18s.

Should I hold my breath?:D

Those would be perfect on the rear if they are that size (255/35/18)

Hi Gman - Slightly offtopic, but would you recommend the shop in Boulder for tire alignments on lowered cars?
