HPFP question

Is it true that Gen pu owners should put a HPFP as a first mod before adding intake or power mods ?

the safe answer is yes. The pu fueling logic max's out the stock fuel pump internals pretty much stock. Any aftermarket parts puts further stress on the system.
You COULD run an intake and be ok, but then again, maybe not.

Make sure you don't try to use a regular socket on the 3 inverted Torx bolts. You WILL strip them and you will have a bad time. Just go buy the E8 inverted Torx socket. It's the only job I've ever used that socket for but it was well worth it. You can ask Eric (OCD) about what happens if you use a regular socket, lol. Also use a zip tie around the solid steel fuel line so that the nut doesn't take off way down into the engine bay on you where it will be a HUGE pain to get back.
Only other tip really is to let the car sit for a while before you do it so the lines aren't fully pressurized. This will make it so less gas leaks out of the fuel lines when you disconnect them so it'll be a little less messy.

Where did you pick up this socket?

Thanks man I appreciate it. For some reason this is the only thing on my car that makes me nervous to do. We are doing my downpipe and internal tonight though so we will see how it goes I guess.

And what about the retainers? How difficult are those to work with?

The colored ones? If I remember correctly they came off pretty easily.

I didn't end up doing it or my internals. I am hopefully doing it this weekend after I dip my car. I had a family emergency so I was at the hospital most of the weekend. I keep hearing that you have to remove a motor mount and lift the motor to do it. You know anything about that? If that's the case I am going to just take it to a shop and have them do it haha

Plus I am trying to find someone to help me do my fuel internals because me and my buddy have never worked with them, I've done engine internals which looks similar considering there are retainers and such, but if anyone could lend a hand in helping me do these I would greatly appreciate it. Because right now I am just on a fuel economy map and my car is gutless.
