Weather Stripping

Hey Guys,

I know I could probably find this with some searching, but I want to know more than a quick Google search will tell me.

My Fiance's Speed6 the weather stripping is going out on one of the doors. I want to purchase some for the whole car and just do all the doors in one shot.

I have the following questions:

What's the best kind to get for our cars? Best sound dampening, moisture control, etc.

How much should I get for all 4 doors?

Should I buy fitted weather stripping if it's available?

Do you guys have links to anything you've used?

I would only use door seals that are specifically designed for her vehicle. I'd use Mazda OEM part, probably purchased from one of the online dealers that give better pricing. You may be able to find an aftermarket part that's comparable. It'd likely be a little lower quality, but might meet the need if this isn't a car you're planning on having over the long term.

On my RX I used all Mazda OEM. It isn't cheap but way better than after market. I purchased through onlinemazdaparts.com.

On my old rx I used metro seals and they were crap.

Sounds like you guys prefer OEM to aftermarket. I'll definitely take your advise on this one as this car will be in the family for quite some time.

Would you guys recommend replacing all the seals at the same time? I don't know if/when they were last changed.

I would assume they were never changed. I would just replace the seals that are bad. All the seals together are probably pushing the $1k mark.

Agreed, just replace the ones you know are bad. They're expensive and will sometimes last the life of the car.
