I originally created "Shadowden" as the name of my garage gym. I spent many early, and often cold, mornings in that space squatting heavy with my puppy (now old boy) Shadow watching from his bed. About 2 years ago, I removed the crossfit gym pieces and moved my weightlifting platform and squat stands into the basement so I could park the S2000 in that space. This past year, I have begun doing a lot more work in the garage on cars and some light fabrication. However, my wife has been working from home more often and doesn't see a good value in driving up to the gym (by work) on days she stays home. Therefore, as a Christmas present, I began reconfiguring the garage so that it will be able to meet all of the needs: parking, work space, storage space, and gym. I have the parking space and gym space in good shape, but now I need to design and build the functional work and storage space requirement. I'll update this thread as changes are made throughout the garage.
Here are a couple pictures of the gym area as it is now.
No car in the way, but weight storage and barbell storage incomplete.

Cool, awesome work. I dunno why I haven't been more interested in the fab side of things. I should be, though. As my coworker keeps trying to drag me into helping his resto stuff, I may give it a shot. My "fab" stuff has been wood related.
Great job making a multifunctional space.

						Wow lookin great!
Don't know if I told you about my friend that has a crossfit gym in his garage, he uses lots of pully-systems to utilize ceiling storage space, and keep the area clear for his car when not in use...

You could put one of those in your yard. Call it a workout. Get a bunch of j cups and lag screw them into some 4"x6"x16' beams. Hand dig 2 3' deep holes. Haul concrete to holes and mix each bag by hand. I'd probably space the poles about 48" apart. Use a dull hack saw and cut a 60" piece of 1.25" 11ga tube.
You will need a way to be safe and get back down though.
