Awesome. Now you're going to be smoking me in the 1/4 heh. Will it clear the hood or will you need to get a cowl hood?

Any pics old the SC? Sounds like it's going to be a great setup.

Are you going to sell your TrickFlow intake manifold to offset some of the cost?

I should all fit with a few slight mods. I cant wait but am getting held up by waiting for UPS. It turn out that the aternator was bad and Summit replaced it for free and am just waiting for it to get here. My car is still at the shop fixing the stuff i mess up. Never hook of a battery backwards!!!. I am assum that the alternator went bad, causing my car to die in Grand Junction. Since the battery was dead, i took it out and throw it on a charger at Fly'n Miata and then just threw it in the tray since I wasn't going to hook it up until I got home and didn't even check it when I hooked it up. I blew some fuses and the ignition conrol in the distributor and took some time to sort it all out. If I don't get my alternator tomorrow it will sit at the shop over the weekend and won't be able to get it home until Monday.

I still need to clean up the lower manifold and will probably gasket match it to the SC. If my car gets stuck over the weekend, I will probably clean up the ports a bit.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in an Trick Flow Street Heat lower and upper intake manifold for the older 5.0's, let me know. I would like to sell it and will probably through it on Craigs List.

Well I fell like I bit off a bit more than expected. I have ended up needing to buy more parts than expected and will have to cut the hood to install a cowl for everything to fit. I also had to drill and tap two NPT holes for a sensor and coolant return into the lower intake manifold. The GT-40 manifold I had was older and did not have them. The drill bit was a 37/64 bit that cost $27 from Napa and is more for a drill press but did it by hand (what a pain in the a$$).

I then realized that I better upgrade the fuel pump so I don't blow the thing up. I got a DeatschWerks 300lph intake pump made for the Miata and should have no problem feeding the beast.

I finished up the intake, got the lower intake cleaned up, installed then did a test fit to see where everything sat. It was very apparent that the stock hood was not going to fit. I could have swore that I saw a fie of the SC V8 Miata's online that were still running the stock hood but that does not look to be the case for me. The front pulley sits up about 1"-1.5 inches higher than the hood and about 2" in the rear. I talked to a guy at V8Miat.net forums and he confirmed you need a cowl (see his pics below).

So now it is time to do the final assembly, get all everything installed and connected to the lower manifold and go to bolt the SC on and have clearance issued with the aftermarket fuel rails and regulator. The Kenne Bell is designed for the stock fuel rails and the only way to go to bigger rails is to go with a 1/2" spacer. I really want to stay with the larger rails 1) because the look bad A$$ but 2) i plan on getting an E85 tune and will need them for the flow. This means that I will know need a larger cowl and am concerned about how it will look. If I go with stock rails, they will not flow enough to run E85. I ended up buying a spacer just to see how high it will sit up and if it is too high will forgo the E85 for the lower cowl.

Here are some pics from a similar car and what he did.

Yea I was concerned it wouldn't fit, with as little clearance as you had already. Hopefully you're able to get it all together without having to have too big of a cowl. You're already losing your sleeper look, and might lose some visibility too.

I think some of the sc's fit, but clearly not this one. I would try running it all on the street without a hood to start. Obviously make sure everything is in good order before you go onto other "projects". Coming along nicely and good to do it all right the first time around!

It it sure is a whole lot of work to cure hp/tq envy. :flipoff@Ron:

Do you think that it will fit under a Simpson hood? I've always liked those. I think that my cleaner is a bit too tall to fit under one. I still need to glass my scoop on my hood. I may go buy some foam and start it this week.

That sure was fun out at FM. Your car definitely gathered a crowd at Sonic!

I am not quite sure what hood I will go with and will need to see how high it actually sits once the hood is cut. I am toying with maybe not going with a CTS-V or ZR-1 type of hood bulge rather than a cowl but need to see what is out there.

I tried to post up some pics on a prior post of a similar car and what he did but it looks like they didn't show up. I will re-post them to see what everyone thinks.

I defiantly enjoyed the Fly'n Miata Summer Camp and hope to make it out next year. I was a little disappointed that my car broke down but that's the way it goes. Your car got quite a few looks as well. I may have some suspension parts for sale for cheap here soon, if you are interested.
