Damn, that sucks. It seems if you didn't have bad luck with your cars, you'd have no luck.

lol tim.
One thing to think about is I've had the truck almost 20 years and this is the first major thing I've had to do to it since I got it. That really isn't a bad track record.

It's a C6 so I'm not planning on upgrading. It will be getting a rebuild and the tranny shop said it would have a little firmer shift than before.

It is basically the same C6 that came on every FE motor but the tail housing is unique to a motor home and it used a flange instead of a slip yoke.

I worked on the truck some over the weekend. I did a ton of cleaning under the truck. I scraped enough grease off the underside to fill a 5 gallon bucket 2 times over. I also started to work on the exhaust manifolds. I have one pulled and have the second half way off. I'm going to be working on the truck tonight.
The tranny rebuild will ready today so the truck should be back together today.

That's a relatively quick turnaround on the tranny. That's great.
I started cleaning underneath the Miata a bit this weekend, but then decided I wanted to drive it. Ha. Ultimately, I figured I'd be pulling the engine this winter and will wait until then to do a deep clean.

I believe they had two transmissions ahead of mine. They are adding extra clutches so it should have a little firmer shift.

I was at the shop until midnight last night. I was really hard getting up this morning, lol.
The tranny is installed, the pinion seal is replaced, the driveshaft is installed. We replaced the gaskets and donuts on the exhaust manifolds. The drivers side manifold was a nightmare, 3 bolts were stuck and required heat. When I left, all that was left to do was replace the oil in the rear end, oil change, install the starter, and fill up the transmission.
Truck will still need:
-oil pan gasket installed
-intake and valve cover gaskets installed
-oil filter mount gasket installed
-power steering lines replaced
-front brakes finished up
-heater core replaced
-rear end outer bearings and seals
-clean and paint the motor
I have all the parts, I just need the time to do it.

I drove the truck this morning to work. The transmission is working great. I need to put it back on the lift tomorrow to tighten the exhaust flanges and replace the rear end oil.
