I agree with Pat to a point. There are still a few repairs that I will make with solder on automotive wiring. I use the crimp-n-heat seal connectors more. 3M used to offfer these with a solder pellet in then, but it's been a while since I've seen any. I do have a collection of these connectors and the fancy crimper.

Awesome. Would be awesome to stop by and get the wire reconnected differently. I'll bring my crimper tool to compare to yours. I'm going to pull the MAF tonight and clean it just in case (even though it should be unrelated).

My wife is taking the rear wheel/tire in for repair today. My tire took a screw in the tread.

I still want to learn to solder wire though...(and weld)

I'm hoping to head to the Springs tonight to get some stock wheels. I'm thinking of getting the wheels painted Apex Blue Pearl, which is a factor color for the S2000 cr. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Apex+Blue+S2000&qpvt=Apex+Blue+S2000&FORM=IGRE

You'll be painting the stock wheels blue, or the current wheels? That's about the color I'm thinking of doing the calipers, if I ever actually do it. Ha.

What welding do you want to learn, TIG, MIG, Ox/Acet, Stick, or Gas? Have the other S2000 in the garage at the moment. He is doing some some maint and tweeking to prepare for Lincoln (nationals).

Why is my garage a magnet for S2000's? Yours is the fourth that has spent some time there. And parts for a couple more have passed through my garage.

It would be the stock wheels I am picking up. They are in really good shape too, but they will be the track/autox and winter wheels. I'll probably do my calipers in either purple or white. Purple lug nuts. That way, even with the current wheels, it will still have a different look. I think the blue/purple combination looks good together personally...just not sure i want to commit my car to it...

yes. I want to be able to weld mild steel. For instance, steel tubing to steel plate. I'm thinking mig welding is the best start, but I really don't know anything. I'd be more than happy to learn any of it though. Honestly, if I got to the point where I got started welding, I'd probably weld a lot. So many things I would like to try and fabricate/build.

Your garage is simply being prepared for your future...and it could be worse...you could be getting a bunch od Solstice's and Skye's in there.

Mig tends to be the standard of easy to learn and most common to the home use welding. Tig is most universal, but more expensive to get into and much more work to get good at. I still find a bunch of uses for gas welding. Stick....just isn't much call for it these days, unless it high heat (thick steel) crane and bridge building. There are some great (weird) rods avalable for stick for some specialty jobs.

There are some things in life I try to avoid... 9mm, FWD, mother in law, eating bugs, sex changes, tea and owning a S2000.
