All you need for parts is there! Great people, too.

Don't know your level of driver experience, but NASA locally has great track programs and SCCA has fair stuff and great autocross.

No better way to spend your track money than on driver training!

Good luck and have fun!

(Or, buy my racing setup for less than you paid for the Miata and I'll throw in some driver coaching. I'll even take your Miata in partial trade.)

G-man - thanks! THe person i bought this car from pretty much threw the whole FM catalog at it already. I've been tracking cars since 02. I've mainly driven AWD (but used to own an FC) so it will be interesting getting back behind the wheel of a RWD again at the track.

Video recorder used is the Harry's Laptimer for the Iphone/Ipod touch

Hey Saul_Good!
First, love the email name. Took me a minute to "get it."

Second, thanks for being a very good sport after I gave you advice for a novice. It certainly seems like you are NOT a track novice at all!

If you decide to really step it up, definitely consider my race car setup. You can also get a street car, too. And I'll take the Miata in trade.

Open lapping at High Plains is this Monday (27 aug) and it's put on by the High Plains track staff whereas the open lapping day on Friday (31 aug) is being hosted by SCCA (still same track). I prefer the Monday session because I can do a half-day for $90 vs whatever SCCA is charging plus I don't have to go through the hassle of teching my car which from my research adds more logistics and costs.

If you change your mind and go on Monday i'll be running the afternoon session.

See you there!

That sucks. I didn't even look at their calander and figured Friday was going to be a typical open lap day. I have to work Monday but was planning on taking Friday off to track. Plus the scca even is wheel to wheel racing and am not ready for that

This was a good time. Hardly anyone there. Lots of open space and no traffic.
