New ride - 2022 Bronco 2 door

Postby Huzer » Tue Nov 02, 2021 9:14

I ordered a Base Sasquatch manual 2 door to have as the fun vehicle in the future. Still have the Mustang, and a GX460 replaced the 4Runner. Hopefully it gets built in 2022 and not pushed out a year or two, although the longer it goes, the more I have saved up in the Bronco fund. Right now, selling the GX and Mustang would easily pay for it, but I wouldn't mind holding on to one of them.

Congrats. I want to get one eventually. Need to pay off the Wife's new Ford Edge first.

Well, things have changed. My wife convinced me to go a little more upmarket on the Bronco ("Wait, it doesn't have heated seats!!?")

So now, it's still the same color, still a manual, still green, but it's the Badlands trim with the High package. Badlands = Rubicon in Ford/Jeep speak. It has a few more creature comforts than the base model. I've started a mod list. Top of the list is a soft top (Ford doesn't offer one from the factory, I'll be adding a Besttop). I also didn't need the tow package (it's currently a build constraint item), so I'm ordering a tow hitch so I can carry stuff around with the hitch. I won't be towing anything behind the Bronco, we have other vehicles for that if needed. Apparently, the Goodyear Territory tires (don't call them Wranglers!) really throw rocks, so I'll add some mudflaps.

There are a few other odds and ends, but overall, in the past few years we've started to enjoy exploring off road. Not rock crawling anything crazy, but just venturing beyond where a 2wd car can go. Hopefully, the Bronco will get us to a few more places this year.

OH! And I have a build date. Currently scheduled for March 21. My wife thinks we should keep the Mustang, which wasn't my original plan.

Nice. I would like to get the 4 door wildtrak.

I like the Wildtrak, but it's only the V6 and no manual. All trim levels above Badlands (Wildtrak, Everglades, Raptor) are automatic only. I'm probably a little silly getting a 2 door when I quite frequently have a back seat passenger, but he happily climbs in the back of the Mustang, and there is enough room behind the seats in the Bronco for his hockey gear. Zero room in a 2 door Wrangler, so that extra space in the Bronco is appreciated.

I'm also looking forward to the Ford Performance 2.3 power pack. As configured for the Ranger, it currently adds 45hp and 60ft/lb to the 2.3 and is fully covered with the drivetrain warranty. At least there's an easy option to add power if I feel it "needs" it.

Picked up the Bronco last night, 290 days after ordering it. It was subject to a bunch of issues...chip holds, shipping delays, but it's finally here. Since I ordered last year, I qualified for price protection. The MSRP has gone up $2k since I ordered, and is going to rise again for '23 models.

2 Door, Manual Sasquatch Badlands with the High Package (heated seats, bigger screen, etc). In Bronco trim, Badlands more or less is the same as a Rubicon in Wrangler trim.

Thanks. Pretty happy with it, almost 2 months in. My son loves it. I think he'd prefer top off/doors off regardless of weather. Everything is back together now, but will probably at least pull the top back off when it warms up tomorrow.
