Holy crap that was fun, and thanks for riding and coaching, my best single time improvement was after that run with you... Overall, it was satisfying finishing my sixth run 8.5 seconds faster than my 1st.
Not sure I could have gone much faster on snow tires! We just need to repeat this during a snow storm.
Of course this is bad, I'm already thinking about better tires for the track to mount on-site, I can see how this is a slippery slope for some, I'd probably be one of them. XD Damn, though, those modified 93 civics were fast.
I'm sure I'd've felt devastated smacking that cone on my 5th run into my shiny new mz3's white bumper, but I see that black rash on my civic's grill as akin to badge of honor. I still feel like it was right to take the slower older car. I felt totally prepared to accept anything that could happen to it on the track... I hope that RX-8 was okay, they hit a cone hard, as did a few other nice looking cars o_o.
It was definitely fun hanging out on the grid with so many drivers and chatting about the event, driving, their rides. I learned a ton by being there and meeting some great folks. Even working the cones on a track corner during the off-heat was fun, though being assigned near the end slalom kept us hopping. I learned a lot just watching the other cars and their lines through the big curves, when I went back to drive I was a lot faster on the second three runs (though in my civic, some of that was definitely just running without a passenger, heh). I think I have a hell of a sunburn...
Good times, definitely think I'm going to be trying to make more of these events!
