yea i agree drifting isnt the fastest way. drifting is about going through a corner sideways slow enough to where you can actually see the car. just looks cool lol

but i dont recommend drifting in an auto x course cause one, its just too technical for drifting and you dont get enough speed and two it is pretty unsafe considering there are usually track officials on the track and car tends to get really uncontrollable at times.

anyways back to autox. since i can go back next season and on the subject of safety and autox. is the helmet requirement the same (snell 2005 or better)? sorry to thread jack lol

In CSP, being regionally competetive takes slicks, which is why the ST classes came into being. If all your mods are ST legal, you should be golden.

no changes until Jan 1st
Even older helmets are still legal- SA95/M95 or newer are legal through 12/31/10
M95 is not legal after 12/31/10 per https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.scca.org/documents/Solo_Rules/2010_helmet_certification_bulletin.pdf

Right, unless you want to buy another set of wheels and R-compound tires to be competitive in SP (and change tires at the event), stick with building towards ST for now.

Don't worry about class right now. Just get out there and get seat time. No matter what class you start in, you won't be competitive until you get seat time. And don't get discouraged if you get smoked by what you think is a lesser car. Autoxing is way more about the driver than it is the car.

Ideally, you want to start with a stock car or maybe a lightly prepped ST car. Adjustable suspensions just cloud the waters when you're getting started.

Seat time, seat time, seat time.

I need to get some things fixed on the car before I try racing. I need to finish the motor repair. I also have to replace all the steering parts (tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, etc.) and my front struts are competely shot.
