Street Mod engine rules:
Here is the official response
Engine Classifications
1. Four-stroke cycle and two-stroke cycle, naturally aspirated internal
combustion engines will be classified on the basis of actual piston
displacement.
2. Turbocharged or supercharged versions of all engines will be classified on a basis of adding 1.4L to the actual displacement.
3. Rotary Engines (Wankel): These units will be classified on the basis
of a piston displacement equivalent to 0.9 liters times the number of
rotors, plus the volume determined by the difference between the
maximum and minimum capacity of the working chamber times the
number of rotors.
So, is that (2x.9) + 1.4 = 3.2l
1800 lbs minimum weight + 200 lbs per litre (3.2) = 2440 lbs minimum weight... should fit easily in SM baring any crazy modifications. Subtract another 200 lbs if you have less that 275mm tires all the way around.

What you did sounds right but this throws me off.....
"......plus the volume determined by the difference between the

Would that be the 1.4L? or do we need to add something more to it?
Any reason that I still can't post over on their forums?

I believe you need to wait 24 hours before you can post. I got that response from John Scheier who is one of the safety coordinators. He did the math... blame him lol.

Yeah I just read that post over there. I should be fine with just street tires right? It's my first time so not like I'm going to go all out.
I can't even add an avatar pic.

This is very confusing...
The Renesis is a 13B so it displaces 604cc per rotor, classified as 1308cc of total displacement by Mazda. For piston equivalency, we double the displacement to 2.6L. I have NO idea where the 0.9L number is from.
Is that the difference between the volume of the max and min capacity of the working chambers X2? Still doesn't make much sense.
Just the general confusion when trying to classify rotaries...we always get penalized for piston math!
What time will you be there Lyssa? Better yet what time should I be there? I read that people get there from 6am! Is before 7:30 when everyone is expected to be there eventhough check in is open from 8-9:30?
As far as working I will be instructed on what to help with once there, right?. The starter guide doesn't say much to help a beginner. I read something about not having to work the cones if one helps with the set-up of the course?

I will be there. Plan to show up around 7:00 to set up camp, talk to others and walk the course. Autocross/Solo is a hoot, and addictive!

agreed, 7a is good
If you have questions ahead of time or there, let me know, I'm happy to help- except on the rotary dispacement thing, dunno
Be sure to check out the corner worker's guide too http://rmsolo.org/help.html#

Mostly because my sense of direction blows...if it's not a clear path I won't know where to go.
Wow, that's REALLY funny LOL.
While I'm not deathly afraid of construction zones, I have a feeling I'd have a hard time remembering where to go too lol.
That's one reason I haven't tried it yet. I know you walk through the course beforehand and everything but still I think I'd forget and just mess up the whole course blasting through cones after I make a wrong turn lol.
