Summer event #1 (again) @ PPIR 4/10/11

Postby ecam8000 » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:14

Well it is time for race #1 (for the second time) just south of Colorado Springs. Sunday @ PPIR. I know RX7 Chris has been working hard to get his rocket ready for the event. Who else is in?

The 4/3/11 event (the SnowCone event, formerly #1) was canceled before heat 3 got to run, so they threw out the official results and the second became the first.

If you are planning to attend (race) you must register on RMSolo by Thursday morning @ 10:00 (4/7/11). You do not need to register or pay anything to watch the fun/action (RX7's spinning).

I was the guy boring everyone...... errr.... giving the safety talk in the morning ;)

Come up and say hi sometime, better yet, come hop in the Scirocco for a ride.

At FRA events, Mark or Roger give the safety talks- they're also Mazda drivers, but not me.

I'm hoping to make it out to the next one! Have a bit of work to do with the car prior to then, but looking at the guys running STR, it looks like Eric/Ecam can drive! I'm pretty sure that STR is a fairly new class correct? If so, doesn't appear to be too fair to run near-stock Miata's with near-stock Honda S2000's haha!

I wish I saw the event that you guys did. I was worried my daughter was going to drive around me! And it was her first time. Those S2000's ARE fast, and each of the S2000 drivers are FAST. I don't ever expect to win in STR, I won't/can't spend the money to build a competitive Miata. But I enjoy the spirit of this class. The two seat non supercharged roadster. I'll stay here as long as I can, and will run a Miata. Can the Next gen (2006-2010) Miata be more competitive? I'd hate to spend the bucks only to "close" the gap.

To me the racing is fun. I am not racing for the win. But my daughter can't stop talking about the fun she had, and the lessons about car dynamics.
