So there's a sudden influx of sports cars and sports sedans here at work (A few STIs, a 'vette, a Maserati), and they're all itching to go play.
I've participated in a few private track days at PMP and Laguna Seca, but never tried to run one.
Anyone know where to start? Contacts at either PMP or HPR?
Costs? Insurance reqs? safety eq? track workers?

For HPR it looks like $2400 for the first 4 cars and then $300 for each additional car. Loot!

20+ at HPR and you can get special pricing from what their website says. Even if you don't get that many from your office, I bet there would be at least a couple on here that would want to participate to bring you up to 20.

Here is your chance to start! It's a lot, a lot, a lot, of fun! If this doesn't happen, you should come with the next time i go to HPR, or PMP. You can run too, it's not terribly expensive despite what others say. Worth it!

$180 is a lot for a few hours of racing. :\ I am really hoping to get to go to a track day this summer though.

I don't know why, but i just don't see it that way. I am by no means saying that $180 is not a lot of money, it is, but for me the experience, atmosphere, and overall track day fun are well worth it! The feeling you get when you put down consistent solid laps at speed is something you just can't get elsewhere. For myself it is totally worth it. Though i wouldn't complain if it were cheaper

I agree $180 bucks isn't much for racing. Most NASA HPDE events are in the $245 range and a lot of competition time trial events cost even more to register (granted there are usually payouts, however).
HPR also does "open lapping days" for $90 bucks for a half day (4 hours) of open track time which is a slamming deal IMO.
If there was an HPR track event setup I would for sure go as well!

Driving through cones in a parking lot at 25mph has never really appealed to me. I'd rather just save up some extra money and be able to actually drive fast and not be so constrained.
