I've been up to watch and take pictures and its looked pretty fun to me, if I had something AWD I'd be all over it. Great place to get some cool action shots http://flic.kr/s/aHsjDLSRzz

I'm contemplating it this year. It'd be an awful lot of fun in the Bronco.

A looong time ago, they had a couple of ice autocrosses up there. Four car classes: FWD/AWD or RWD and with/without studs. I ran both a Miata and a 1990 626 GT (fwd turbo), without studs. Took a long time to do the course, but fun as hell.

One time was incredibly windy but fairly warm, so really slippery. I remember closing the door on the 626GT and my sneakers had so little traction on the ice that I slowly blew me about ten feet from the car! Fun stuff.

Not sure how it compares to the ice racing they're doing now, though.

I've watched them run. The built jeeps on spiked tires are nuts. Think 500hp V8s on ice.

Though I think most of the weekends they run, they required AWD/4WD, but there's a open 2WD event held with the Porsche Club each year, if you wanted to give it a shot in FWD/RWD.

If i do it ill be in the AWD Forester so that wont be a problem.

Im not sure if id even consider doing it in a FWD car. That would be a joke haha

Went a couple years ago. It wasn't nearly as fast as I thought it would be. Also the earlier you go in the season the better. Before the ice gets all eaten up by the "Cheaters".

I'll be there for the first practice/fun day on Friday December 27th. We'll be running both my Golf R and the little lady's WRX. It should be a good time.

I went years ago with my old STI and it was a fun day. If I remember correctly, the practice days only used to cost like $5. Hard to beat for the money... As mentioned above though, it would be wise to go early in the season in order to avoid driving through the [deep] ruts created by the "cheater" tires. Last time I was there in my STI, I made the mistake of driving one of the deeply rutted courses, which resulted in a bit of damage to one of my rear endlinks (car was lower than stock on coilovers). Not a big deal, but worth noting. Hence why I'm going to the first practice day of the season this year ;)

Also as mentioned above, it's much slower than most people would assume; especially with bare rubber tires. Within the cabin it feels faster than it is, due to making lots of steering, braking and throttle corrections... but in reality, when watched from the outside, it's pretty slow to say the least haha! Still good fun though.

Here's a few pics of me piloting my old STI up there:
