what was your score on the ACT's?

Postby alex_n/a » Mon May 02, 2011 9:14

recently I got my score back. Honestly I feel like I received a bad score. But then again I pretty much guessed on 95% of the science section. My score falls below national average which is 21 and I got a 18. Yet I'm not average in school. In fact I'm pretty smart. In my H.S. I help tutor kids and teachers always tell me I have potential. In pickens tech. College I also feel smart, I have an A in class and I'm 1 of 5 with an A in both morning and afternoon sessions. My teachers where surpised I scored low they all expected me to score above 25.

so now my question is should I re-take the test next year as I won't be going to college this year again. I was thinking of doing wyo-tech or eco-tech or ITT-tech I love doing hands on and can't stand a desk job. I'm thinking maybe these schools or other similar schools would still take a 18 right? I mean don't they just want the money anyway.

again. What was your score or scores if you took it multiple times?

comments and advice apreciated :D

I would check with the schools what their minimum testing score requirements are. Quick search shows 17 for ITT. Couldn't even find it listed as a requirement for the other schools you listed.

I went to ITT, I hated every minute of it. Worst school I had ever been too. Highly recommend NOT going there. My brother went to Aims Communtiy College in Greeley for the same degree I went for at ITT. He got more hands on training than I did at less than half the cost for what I have to pay for. My school loans are well into the double digits for my two year degree. And if your lucky enough to find a teacher/counselor that actually cares about you and not just your money then your in way better hands than the group I went to school with. We started out 30 some in our class, at graduation there were only 10 of us. There online courses were the worst, take days for a teacher to respond to an email. By then assignment was due and you now turning it in late and only get half credit.

I have no idea what my SAT scores were. 11-12 years ago, hell I dont remember what I did yesterday! Just my two cents but I would definetly do a lot of research on the schools, especially ITT! Google ITT sucks, theres even youtube videos of people pissed off at that place! Good luck though, not trying to deterrent you from anything. Those decisions are always tough.

See if your school has a after-hours prep class offered.

Also, you can retake the test! You will have a world of experience going into it a second time.

I say retake the ACT and see what your obligations are, do more research on schools and if hands on training is what you want then stay in that field.

I don't know if 36 is still the max but it was when I was in high school and I got a 32. I would just retake it rather than settle for a lesser school after one attempt. Lots of people retake those tests and do better the second time around. If you haven't yet, get one of those study books designed specifically for the ACT that will help you get a good feel for the type of questions they ask. Good luck!

I got a 32 as well. I didn't need a high score because I was just going to CSU.

Guess the ACT is the new standard? I only took the SAT back in my HS days, makes me feel old thinking back now. But from what I gather, just call the scools you're interested in and talk to their admissions clerk. Most of the time a University just wants your $$$$ and will waive an SAT/ACT sccore to enroll you. Unless your heading to MIT, or Yale.... But those scores don't mean much once you get into the colloege of your choice. So just find out if your score will be good enough for where you want to go, if so, then don't worry about retaking it...

I went to ITT. After I graduated, I started of in IT helpdesk jobs then DBA then system admin and I am a programmer now. I thought teachers were great. They were willing to help people that needed help but I never needed any. I had a lot of hands-on when I was there. I think you'll get what you're willing to learn and get out from there. I learned a lot because I was serious and willing to learn. When you enroll, you will have to take a test to see if you are qualified to take what you wanted to take or not.

It will help you get your foot in the door, what you do or what directions you want to take after that is up to you. Some will give up, some will drop out. What will happen to you is up to you. No education will get you top job right out of school. You'll have to start from the bottom no matter where you go. Good luck on whatever you choose. You only have yourself to blame if it doesn't work out, not the school.

Not many people in my class are doing what they went to school for. Again, it's all up to you and what you want to do with your education. No school will babysit you and track you down if you don't go to class. You pay for it, you better make sure you get what you paid for.

33 nice. My 32 (and 1390 on the old SAT) was enough to get me into Mines, but I also had a 4.3 GPA (weighted above 4.0 by AP classes). Only went for one year, then I met my (now) wife and dropped out because she lived in the Springs and I didn't want to leave her to go back to Golden. Sometimes wish I had finished out at Mines but don't regret marrying my wife, and we live with the decisions we make.

Anyway, sorry for the sidetrack, heh.

dude idk if i would have gone to mines i had a 4.2 up till end of sophomore year but that was the time i got into the typical high school party scene and also when i bought my car...we all know how that takes up more time than homework haha so i ended dropping horrifically but mines is a little to study oriented for me i'd prefer a school like unc or cu or something but how did you meet your wife? she go to school there?

I had the same thing happen in high school except not until my last semester of senior year, so it didn't drop my GPA much, hehe. And there were still parties at Mines. The frat houses had some pretty good parties all the time, plus Boulder is a short drive away if you have a car. I didn't, but I got rides from friends and you can always take the bus too.

I met my wife on AOL. She only lived like 5 miles from me in the Springs, just happened to meet her in a chat room online. We met up and started dating and the rest is history...
