Hate it. Bought one last year because I didn't want to pay Vonage $20/mo anymore just so my satellite boxes could make their monthly phone call. I don't need a home phone line for any other purpose, as my wife and I both have cell phones. So anyway I picked up a Magic Jack and it was terrible.
First thing is, you have to leave the app for it running on your computer at all times. When anyone in the house makes a call, the app pops up on your screen. It will take focus away from whatever you are doing, so if you're in the middle of an intense fight in an online game and someone makes a call, tough shit you're watching that sucker dial. Also it will pop up randomly on its own even without someone making a call. I'm guessing to try to show you an ad or something. Again, it doesn't care if you're in the middle of something, it will just pop up randomly and take focus away from what you're doing.
Second, half the time the outgoing call wouldn't even complete, especially with faxes. I had my printer/fax hooked up to it and every time I'd try to fax something it would start dialing but then "time out" after 10 seconds and just hang up. Every time.
So basically if you're only going to use it for plain old phone calls, and you never use your computer or you can set it up on a computer that you never use, then it might be worth it. But for me it was way too big of a pain in the ###.
So now my satellite boxes just don't call in. I never order PPV and don't care about OnDemand because I can just download or stream any show I want if I miss the recording. Plus I'm not working for DirecTV anymore where it was a requirement to have all your boxes call in every month to make sure you didn't have one of your boxes at your mom's house or something giving them free satellite.
Oh and F Comcast in the A. They will never see another dime of my money. Crappy service, ridiculously expensive, no f'n way.

Oh snap.
Intense fight, ha ha...that's great.
We both have cell phones, but our primary reason/s for getting it would be conference calls and faxing. Blast...
I don't know how Comcast gets away with charging the rates they do:confused:
So no landline for you anymore?

I heard that too, but still need to research more. Which in all honesty, is what this thread has been accomplishing:D

They get away with it because they have a monopoly on cable TV in Denver. No competition= no reason to lower rates. Thats why I dont work for them anymore 25cent raise every year is for the birds! Watch how low their rates go if another company moves in.

Not since 2005. Haven't missed it a day since. All I got on it was telemarketing calls.

Also keep in mind that internet connection determines quality with these most of the time. Can have echoing or popping on slower lines.
I was not aware they had a PC-less version. It wasn't my connection though. I have rock solid 40Mbps DSL that has zero problems with my work VOIP phone.
