Pretending to drive fast

Postby RX8init » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:14

I think everyone wants to race when I'm in my RX-8. My husband thinks I just like to drive fast. Ok uughh, I do like to drive fast. But people challenge me a lot. I would say I do something like lipsinking, I want to drive fast but don't want to get busted so I just pretend I'm driving faster than I am.

I literally drive about 130 mph, everywhere I go in my MS6. Anybody that tries to race me, I normally smash and if I'm on my game, I'll datalog it. I'm not the guy that is in-&-out of traffic, but I do use my flash-to-pass when necessary and from enough distance, to where if you don't start getting over by flash #2, you're gonna get passed on the right. I've never lost a dead stop street race, save for a C6 Z06 that e v e n t u a l l y caught me and vanished, but it wasn't until I was already balls deep in triple digits and at least 1320 ft down the road. (Moral of that story... nail your launch, hope he doesn't). I won't race sportbikes as a general rule, because I don't want to cause someone's death, but if a sportbike rider is being pesky, I'll make him prove to me that he can twist it at BIG speed. I own one of those too pal, and yes... I see your mohawk helmet and dirtbike gloves. Are you sure you want to do this? My car is never not sparkling clean, inside and out. If my last name was von Richthofen, the emblems I'd have on my rocker panels would say BMW, Porsche, Subaru, AMG, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Audi, etc... Ich habe noch nie raste ein Ferrari. Some 75% of my driving is done with the "DSC OFF" light illuminated. If I think your car is faster than mine, just remember that I'll be getting in the gear I want and the lane I want, before you've even fully considered the 3 or 4 lane change maneuver you're about to do, to get beside me.

Oh yeah.... I got the holeshot on a shooting star one time, and a wish that I had made months earlier, came true later that night.

Haha Barn you sound like me when I drive my FD. I'm not an asshole by any means, weaving in and out of traffic, but I'll cruise smashing down I-25 in triple digits like it's no big deal and pass on the right when the slow people are in the fast lane and don't know how to drive.

I generally drive like my wife when I'm in my DD, tho. Since part of my job involves a clean driving record (can't get more than 3 tickets in 3 years, collectively, rolling time period) I do have to play it safe. In the DD I'll usually just do 5mph over the posted limit and stick a single lane and just stay there.

I lose almost every race with my P5, so I don't race it very much. LOL! I still look better than a lot of others...hence the signature,"nah...just furious".

Ended up at a stop light next to a bug eye-ish WRX. Had a flex fuel sticker (ha ha) and the usual modz: fart can, intake, etc. I knew he'd not only take me off the line, but pull much faster than my mod-less Speed. (I was also carrying a passenger and some...ahem, luggage).

Anywho... had a pretty good run. He didn't cream me by any means. Honestly, I don't think he gave it his all until he realized that the MS3 had some pep to her. I got so excited I didn't get out of second gear until 5.5k-ish rpm, ugh. Once I got into 3rd, he jumped up next to me, then once I engaged 4th, he was swooshing by me. At this point I had to quickly turn off anyway- but it was a fun time. The misses said, "sounded like something was dying under his hood"...which was his intake/bov huffin' and puffin'.

I smoked a 535i today. Well, he was behind me and just changed lane sped up and cut me off... I just returned the favor but he was trying to block me by speeding up but he couldn't keep up. I bet he didn't expect that from a Mazda hatchback. LOL.

I have the same opinion on BOVs. <> would have freaked out had I done that.

Ha ha, she loved it! Got her all excited (wink-wink)

Whenever I'm driving the Speed and someone's acting like a db, she's always like, "Get around this guy woulda'?"

I raced a Porsche tonight, one of these buggers:

This guy was following behind me every time I changed lanes so I knew he wanted to run 'em. When he got next to me I could hear him downshift and I could see a yellow "JEGS" sticker in his rear window. A few moments later we were at a stoplight next to each other and I could hear him revving up. I had a split second where I hesitated, but then I said screw it this is why I built this car up in the first place. So I revved up too and launched at 4,xxx RPM. Completely raped him, I was a bus length ahead at 50mph. He turned at the next exit.

When I came home and looked them up on wikipedia I was disappoint. 250 HP is all those Porsche's make from the factory.

A 2011 WRX wanted to race me the other night, so i acted like i was gonna go against him and let him take off. Probably did that 4 times, he kept wasting gas. And then finally i said f*ck it and went for it, well my windows were down and he drove through a huge puddle i got pretty wet along with my buddy in the passenger seat and lost terribly haha.

Had a small run in with a new 4-door STI. I was on a small cruise to make sure everything was running right after re-installing the turbo. I'm pretty proud of this little turbo. I kept up with the guy from a roll at about 70. Everything is running too good and I'm hitting higher PSI then I should and the EBC shut me down at 12.9 PSI and power just dropped like normal. AFRs Looked great during my entire cruise.

I now have a higher (12-14lb) WG actuator that I got a bracket made for yesterday. (Not currently installed but fits perfect) Ordering Water/meth Injection kit on monday hopefully. Looking for a time to meet up with Dave and Re-tune for MORE POWER. OMG this is gonna be fun.

I'm thinking about using the other RX-8 as a base to build a Custom kit with a "huger" turbo, with help from Dave, in the coming year. Then put this kit in the Grey 8 and the Custom one in the Blue 8. Sounds good to me but IDK. Might keep the grey one stock. I'm really power hungry right now!
