That's why I love my mirrors on the Mustang. They have a built in wide angle blind spot mirror. I have my mirrors so I see the edge of my car. Not taking up 1/3 of the mirror, but definitely visible, like in this picture. The blind spot mirror handles the rest. I still look over my shoulder most times, especially at night, but the blind spot mirrors do help a lot.

I saw that while passing a Fiesta today. I thought that was a good idea. I hate the dome mirror that's on the corner on my bronco but it works to see the little cars next to me. I love the mirrors on my brothers F250. Has a long smaller mirror at the bottom.

Added to my point is also that size of the mirrors helps. Going from my stock mirrors to the Ganador mirrors effected how well I could see behind the 8. In your pic you can see really well almost directly behind you.

Your mirror placement is good to me. I might have it a little more on the car like a hair but that just might because of the angle the pic was taken. I Couldn't imagine driving without being able to see the back corner of the car.

I can't see the side of my car in my mirrors unless I physically move my head towards the doors. I can also know where my car is in relation to everything else around me without seeing it in the mirrors.

Also, with how I have my mirrors adjusted, I almost always (like 99% of the time) know what is around me and in/near my blind spot. By the time a car is out of my rear view mirror, I can see it in my side view mirror. I have a very very small bind spot, if any. By the time a car is no longer visible in my side mirror, I can see the car fairly easily in my peripheral vision.

erod550 wrote:Do you have a short shifter and rear motor mount? They made a world of difference on mine. Loved the way it shifted after that. My Mustang on the other hand, don't know if you've heard about the issues with the MT82 but it ain't pretty. Very, very notchy, 5th will grind if I try to shift quickly into it before it fully warms up, the clutch sticks to the floor on high rpm shifts from time to time, if I downshift hard before taking a turn, the clutch pedal will often stay on the floor until the RPMs drop enough if I didn't perfectly rev match. Fun times, heh. But is really is only a minor drawback on an awesome car. Most of the time it shifts fine. It's just finnicky sometimes.

In fact I have both! I placed an order for some shifter bushings earlier today. Hope they help a bit.

Also your trans makes me think mine is pure driving perfection. If mine did that I would throw the thing back at Mazda. If what is happening is a known problem/issue, why isn't Ford stepping up? How was it at the track when you went?

I had the bushings too so maybe that will make the difference for you.

Ford isn't stepping up because they don't know what's causing it all. People have taken their cars to the dealer and they just say "that's just what performance cars do." But they are supposedly investigating. It's happening to too many cars to just be a one off thing.

When I went to PPIR everything was fine. No issues at all. I had some issues with it not wanting to go into 2nd gear once at Bandimere. Screwed up a couple runs cause it made me miss the 1-2 shift. Have also had the clutch pedal stick to the floor on me on a total of 3 runs I think, all different trips to the track. The last one was when I tried to flat foot shift. Didn't try that again. Lots of people do it with no issues but mine doesn't like it. But other than those few runs, it has done well at the track.

I'm crossing my fingers that the bushings will be the answer. We will see.

That's crazy! And the explanation that it happens because it's a performance car is crazy! So does Ford than think that every Porsche, every Lambo, and every Ferrari out there with a manual box have the same issues? What your trans does is far from something inherent in all performance cars. I would venture a guess that's their current 'buy time' statement while they try to figure it all out. Hope they can offer you all up a solution sometime soon.

Problem = German engineered Getrag transmission built out of pot metal in china. Everything I've read points to the detents for shift lock out being the culprit.

The GT500 has a Tremec. The new 5.0 and new V6 have the Getrag MT-82.

Also forgot to mention that since my first trip to the track, the trans also whines like a supercharger in 2nd and 3rd at low speeds, heh. But that's pretty common with a lot of people. If you take it in they'll put in a thicker fluid to "fix" it.

Uncorrected or incorrectly corrected LIDAR Cosine Error. Theta for 23 degrees can make the difference between having or not having CRS 42-4-1401 applied to you...

Mine is in my sig. Not sure why it's showing up yellow. My avatar/sidepic is just the 5.0 engine cover.
