It's frightening really. Especially since the Senate passed the "Assault Weapons Responsibility" Bill. It can put liability on the manufacturer, retailer or previous owner of any semi-auto rifle if that weapon is ever used in a crime. It's built to bypass the FEDERAL law that protects manufacturers, retailers, and private sellers from liability. I don't even understand how it's legal. We passed the most insane gun bills in the nation, despite the massive number of protests and emails to our state reps. I watched about 80% of the hearings yesterday, and for the most part, the democrats were completely quiet. They asked no questions, gave no input, etc. It was purely their own agenda. Aside from any gun-related issues... It's completely unacceptable to be in their position, and not work FOR the people. To not hear both sides, take in all information, research impact, and above all, put emotion and personal agenda aside.

I share your frustration. It seems like much of the legislation is being put in place to prevent mass shootings, which, while really scary, aren't a significant contributor to the overall level of firearms deaths.

I don't mean to call you out, but I always got the feeling that you (would have) voted these "types" of people in. Are you saying, you didn't vote for such (D) people?

lol. Just let it go.

Another fun fact about how little the state reps understand what they are doing...

The magazine bill was worded to include any magazine that is "easily adaptable". Which would then include any shotgun, AR magazine, Glock magazine, and others. This was because of shotgun tube extensions, AR magazine floor plate extensions, and same with Glock. It took testimony from several pro-gun witnesses to explain it to the people that wrote the bill. Magpul's CEO even brought 10-round mags and adapters to visually show how to convert a 10-round to 30-round. While they did amend the bill, it's silly to think that they know so little. But I'm just soap-boxing.

Just find it insane that there were any people supporting this stuff. I mean seriously... If I go out of town for more than 72 hours, according to the Universal Background Check Bill, my wife has to get a Background check to use our guns!

I absolutely vote Democrat, despite my having a pretty significant libertarian streak, as their politics align more with with the way I think than the Republicans do. Doesn't mean I support everything they're doing. I'm pretty happy to name stupidity when I see it, whatever it's political affiliation. I do see gun rights as being lower on the list of concerns than some of the issues out there, and I'm definitely not a single-issue voter. While I support some gun control measures, I don't see the ones being put on the books as making an effective difference in public safety. Most of them touchy-feely wastes of time and money that don't align with statistical reality.
