Jump to 2:37 to see an example of a fast car, and a REALLY fast car, sharing the road, and both being able to have fun. Don't look at an opening lapping day as a competition to get the pole for an F1 race. Just go out there and have fun. "IF" I was to get put on the track the same time as Dave and Eric, I'm sure they'd zoom (no pun intended) past me, but the fun part comes from putting youg car through it's paces.

Thanks, my concen was mostly that I didn't want to be in the way (from your clip "Come on guy, get out of the way (to a person driving a vette)", and also that someone who was out there getting ready for racing or something like that would be a little overly aggressive and hit my car. It does look like a good time though. The track is wider than I thought it would be and has a lot of places for people to pass me.

It is actually fairly easy. The cars end up getting spread out enough over the roughly 2 mile track and if a faster car comes up behind you, slow down, waive them by and most importantly-STAY ON YOUR RACE LINE. The faster cars will break line and make their pass. This isn't rubbing is racing and simply need to be smart.

It is nothing to be scared of and is highly addictive.

Yep. All the cars work themselves out and you pretty much end up with an open track most of the session. So long as do what you should be doing anyhow (checking your mirrors) you will know when a faster car/driver is coming up on you and you can plan accordingly.

Also this is off topic but Ron this is for you:

Never been to the place in Lone Tree. Never been sky diving either. Ron, want to teach me? I want to jump out of a plane.

I was kidding about the indoor place. Dubai looks amazing. I too want to jump from a plane.

On topic: How long does a lapping session usually last, and what kind of wear are you looking at on parts. I assume its based on how hard you push. I'll check HPR too, but if anyone knows the price and wants to post it here, I'd appreciate it.

I figured you were.

Open lapping days can be as long or as short as you want them to be. What I mean by that is you can either purchase a half day (morning or afternoon) or a full day. Without looking I believe the morning session is from 8:30 or 9 to noon and the afternoon session is 1 to 5. The half day sessions are $90 and the full day is $150. Depending on the number of cars that turn up they will either structure sections of fast or slow like someone before said, or they will just leave it open and you can go on track and come off track when you want during your session.

As far as parts wear goes like you said it depends on you. Me personally, on my set of RE-01R's I have one more half session left of life on them. They have been through I think 4 full days and one half day. Brakes are dependent on how hard you push them and for how long. No one is going to be there screaming GO to you, so you are more than welcome to choose the pace at which you want. Toward the end of the sessions if my brakes are getting a bit hot I'll purposely take it easier down the back straight to give them a rest. Nothing will break on the car, that I can all but assure you. Cars can take the abuse, think about the guys that run 24hr races in otherwise stock cars (see 25hrs of Thunderhill).

I know I've posted this before but for those wondering what the track itself is like, this is a really good video. The guy runs the perfect school line which is what you will want to run on your first go.

I really want to do this. I need some Hawk pads and some heavier duty brake fluid. Last time at PPIR my brakes were quite hot and fading after 3-4 laps of 120 down to 40 braking at the end of the front straight.

And yea the waving cars by thing isn't a big deal. No one is going to dive bomb you going into a corner. Just be considerate and let off and wave them by and they'll pass quickly and everyone gets back to having fun again.

Sweet. I'm sure my All season tires would be excellent :), but its all about fun. I'll keep my options open for the day.

I plan on running the afternoon session, but getting to the track around 10am. If anyone wants to drive down from NOCO, let me know. Also meeting up somewhere on I-70 to merge with the other drivers could work.

I am down for the afternoon session and will probably be there around noon. The main thing to remember is that you can push it as hard as you want, it all for fun. I think that it is your breaks that take the brunt on the track.

I tried to put together a skydiving day a while back but when it came down to it, no one wanted to comit. If there is enough interested, we can try again or just pm me for some info. The indor stuff is cool and we use it to train in the winter but is very expensive and is more fun to do the real thing.

I think the afternoon session is best, considering my drive time from NoCo.
