Yep, been making the rounds since Monday. Kid's damn lucky to be alive. He'd been arrested just over an hour earlier, then released. Being with a minor female, booze, drugs. But no evidence he was drunk or high at the time.

Saw that on Jalopnik, I'm similarly amazed the driver survived, I guess that's a testament to automotive safety design, or more likely, some kind of dumb luck... I was surprised this shut down the highway for six hours for cleanup, didn't look like there were any pieces left too large for a broom. XD Crazy.
Update: I read somewhere that the driver was *thrown* from the car by the collision. That's definitely just dumb luck. (Fun fact: technically, this was an allision, which is when a moving object hits a stationary object, as opposed to collision, when two moving objects collide. I mentioned this to my insurance company in 2009 when my civic slid into a rain gutter on old tires over slush. My insurance adjuster wasn't all that impressed...)

Please tell me you watched the OTHER video link on this page. OMFG. The reporter says and I quote. "Troppers are still trying to determine how much, if any, speed played a factor in this accident". ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
On a side note, the lateral yaw that thing had going when it took off... I am scared to say it, but it looks like he was AIMING for that pole.
